Hi everyone, I have my medical examination next week and I'm just wondering if anybody can shed some light to what it entails? I have put a few things on my medical questionnaire such as migraines (I suffer with them every 6 months or so, so they're not regular), past depression issues about 7 years ago, and pregnancy related issues such as back pain and referred to physio for it. I'm just wondering what the doctor asks about these? And if it will look bad that I've suffered from them? I'm also aware that they do an eyesight test. I do wear glasses and my corrected vision is 6/4 which apparently is better than the 6/6 requirement. But I'm not too sure what…

Anybody know anything about these, i did not pass the police medical hearing test, I have now had to perform a functional hearing test with and without hearing aids. I had to loan some on a free trial from a private hearing loss company. I'm applying to West Yorkshire police and now worried I will fail my application. I have some mild hearing loss at high frequency. I have passed everything else.?

Saw a video on the WYP Facebook page the other day that mentioned the proactive team. I thought I'd familiarised myself fairly well with departments etc prior to my start date, but can't seem to find much out about this one. Anybody clued up on what sort of stuff the proactive team does?

Hi all, i was just wondering if anyone had done their student officer training with West Yorkshire? I've passed my interview & fitness test! Just got vetting & medical to get out the way now. However my question is when carrying out the training can you stay over at the training facility? It's about an hours drive to the training facility from where I live so doing that every day is going to be a tad annoying every day for 13 weeks? Also what's the training structured like - Monday to Friday, 9-5 or is it set out like how the shift pattern would be when one the job?

Hi all, I recently passed my interview with West Yorkshire i now have a few questions regarding what comes next, I have my fitness test & biometric vetting next week (which i shouldn't have any problems with) what comes after all that if you're successful? I'm sure they will let me know later on down the line however it would be nice to know whats coming I also have one question - I understand you aren't allowed more than 9 days sick within 12 months, however I was assaulted at work which resulted in me breaking my ankle last year so i had 10 weeks off work. Will this have a negative impact and potentially fail my application? Apart from that time off work …

Hey everyone, I recently got through all stages and been given a start date although there was an aspect of the recruitment process which has left me with a lot of unanswered questions. I am very colour vision deficient, have been all my life since colouring the sky and sea in purple and the grass brown in primary school. As you can imagine, I straight up failed the colour tests they provide during the medical. After a second test I was deemed fit for the role but never been told what impact this would have from anybody other than rumours about not being able to join certain departments. Is this going to limit what I can and can't do in the force? Any parti…

Firstly let me congratulate you on passing all of the tests, assessments, medical fitness and interviews. Without doubt it's no mean feat to have done so and the competition to gain one of the seats at training school is without doubt fiercely competitive. Despite the many changes that the police service has gone through in the last few years, pay freezes to pension changes, to austerity cuts on budgets, its fantastic news that WYP along with others is now in a position to start recruiting once again. So onto the training to become a police officer with WYP. This is carried out at Carr Gate, Wakefield. You will attend a 13 week intensive training programme designed t…

Folks The reason for this post is to identify those of our members who are currently undertaking the West Yorkshire Police IPLDP Student Officers Course and those who are presently in the system awaiting a start date. You may use this to seek advice in respect of the training course, what is expected of you as a student officer, the structure of the training, any worries you have or questions in general about the course. So feel free to fire away and ask any questions you have a burning desire to have answered Sent from my iPad usring Police Community

Struggling to find anything from google about this so thought I'd ask here. Despite my assertion in my introduction about not asking questions. On the West Yorks Police recruitment page it's stated that 2 A Levels are required, and on another page it states a level 3 equivalent under the education act 2008. I'm wondering how stringent that rule is? Or which applies? I went to college, but dropped out during my second year to join the army. This was well over a decade ago. Will my not insignificant life experience and skills be enough that I should still apply? Or would it be more sensible to apply as a special first? It's my understanding that I can't apply for both si…
