Hi folks, just seeing if anyone else on here has passed the application stage and start training for the regulars on 12th July?

When picking a station to work at as a special I would personally pick to work at Newark station. Is this a busy station? Is it likely I'd get in?

I have not been on duty in few weeks and just checked the notts police website and come across this.. "Recruitment for police officers will take place in early 2013. Further updates will be posted on this page nearer the time" http://www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/jobs/ Has anybody heard anything?

What are the rules on carrying your personal phone?

Hello there, I shall be Attesting as a Special fairly soon and have been assigned to Riverside/Central. Does anyone have any wise words for a newbe Special?, like what are the most common areas that Specials fall down on or seem to lack knowledge or skill in?, or what are the best attributes that a Special can have in order to make a good impression and become a usefull member of the team?. So far, i have heard, shut up and listen, bring cake, say that you're willing to get stuck in or get in a scrap and don't act like a know it all. Thanks :new_yummy:

Hey there, This isn't just a complete rant, more me trying to get an understanding on matters. I have seen a lot of these Community Protection officers patrolling the streets of Notts recently, and after some research have found out that they are funded and controlled by the council and are kind of like the Councils variant of a PSCO. I'm not putting down the chaps that want to help out and do jobs such as this, but i would much rather these people be PCSO's under the direct control of the Police, and it annoys me that the council are putting money into creating their own fake police force rather then that same money being used to fund either more PCSO's or better still …

Before I start I want to make it clear that I am not asking for what scenarios are given on the skills day (people can get in trouble for giving that information away). Due to unforeseen circumstances our practice day was cancelled (snow) and will not be rescheduled for my intake. An opportunity has arisen to go to a practice, unfortunately it was pencilled in for a weekend that our intake was due to have off, so like my self, a few of us already had plans so will not be able to make it. Ill be going into the skills days fairly blind. For those that have gone through it, what advice could you give? Such as always remember to.... Don't feel you have to.... etc etc…

Hi All :new_wave: Quick background, I am studying at Nottingham University at the moment and I have to wait till September 2013 till I can apply, so I meet the 3 year residence criteria. I have done a bit of reading on the forums and I have got this rough time scale in mind; Sept 2013 – Feb 2014 Application, interview and test Mar 2014 – Jun 2014 Training I understand it can vary quite a bit on the complexity of you application and availability of the test. I don’t mind the process taking longer or shorter but my problem starts when I graduate (with luck) from University in late May 2014. I have no idea where I will be after my graduation. I have recently received a letter to confirm that i have passed the assessment process, and am now awaiting my fitness test date. I was however wondering about the references procedure as i left my last employer on bad terms and my current employer is an agency therefore don't give references. So im just wondering whether this is going to be a problem?
