I'm coming back!

Hello! So I'm coming back after a period of absence from the force. Been catching up with a few people whilst I've been at FHQ but wanted to hear from the boots on the ground of any changes that have happened in the 6 months I've been away? So far I know about new trousers and shirts, but that's as far as it goes. *I'm also acutely aware that this area of the forum was pretty dead before I stood down so I anticipate it may still be the same but any replies are always useful.

I've seen quite a few cohorts come through into Notts over the past 6-12 months, so it's a good time to see if we have any new Notts officers on the forums! Drop a post below introducing yourself, the Nott's area has always seem quite as long as I've been on here, so let's try and get it a bit alive again...! I'm a serving special in the north of the county, attached to response. I've been in for nearly 2 years now! Your turn...!

Hi all, this is my first but not last post on this site. I received an email 2 days ago stating I had been offered an interview as a rural special constable at my local station. I had wanted to join the police force since I was 5 years old.. now 21. my dream feels closer than ever right now but there is one little thing which im worried about... THE INTERVIEW/PRESENTATION. Does anyone have any tips on the presentation or interview stage please? I am doing a presentation on music and how music has changed the world we live in today. Kind regards

Question on interview stage
by bluedelta- 8 replies

Hi, I have just confirmed my interview date for Nottinghamshire which is in person at the HQ, not via telephone. Just wondering as it seems most candidates get a telephone interview then an assessment centre, does Notts differ in how they recruit specials? What would the next stage after the 'in-person' interview be? I am happy that I know how to prepare, I plan to go through the core competencies with more than one example, force vision/values/plans etc. but if anyone has any additional tips for force interviews please feel free to share. I was going to post this in the Notts specific area, but seemed a bit dead! Thanks

Specials interview!

Hello all, I have my specials interview next Tuesday. I am wondering if anyone can shed some information on what I can expect? I have done some research, for example the 'PROUD' values, the policing principles amongst others, in which I hope I can use these values to support answers in the interview. Thanks

Notts SC Recruitment & Training Stages

Can any of our Notts SCs or staff kindly provide potential applicants/candidates with information on the new processes? I understand they have recently changed with regard to recruitment, selection, interview and training. As the main topic for this hasn't been updated for a while, it would be good to see it as it stands for 2015 and beyond. Many thanks in advance. JB.

Slightly strange question about vetting

Hello, I recently passed my interview stage of application and i am now moving on to the pre employment check stage. The question i have is, When the police do these checks what kind of credit check do they do? I'm asking this as i'm right in the middle of buying a house and have had a mortgage approved and just don't want anything to damage my credit file before i actually receive the funds as the mortgage company may do one last credit check before they release the funds. In my head it shouldn't affect anything as i'm not applying for credit, its just the police searching my credit history. Does anyone have any idea? Many thanks!
