Hi, I'm new to the idea of becoming a Special since my regs application has been binned recently due to the budget cuts, so apologies if this is answered elsewhere in the forum (I have looked) How do shifts work ? - Do you call in & tell them you are on your way/book your availability ? - Do you commit to the same shift weekly ? - Do you tie your availability in with when a regs shift starts ? - How many hours ? the whole regs shift / part of a shift ?

Morning All, Just abit of fact finding really. As you are aware currently Notts is going through a big shake up and restructure due to these funding cuts and what I just wanted to know is "How is this affecting you" I'm just looking for different points of view from specials acorss Nottinghamshire about their experiences and how these changes are going to affect them and the way they work. Its not aimed at looking for all the negativity just curiosity really. Look foward to hearing your opinions.

Hi, I am currently serving for essex police, i love it, but am looking to move to Nottingham in a few months time. In essex we as specials arrange our own operations and get support from the regulars and pscos and within reason have access to most equipment. Is this the same in nottinghamshire? We go out with regulars on most duties for us to get the most out of the job and to help complete our pdp's. Is this the same in nottinghamshire? Do you know if i would need to hve further training moving to a different force? Thanks in advanced

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-12758726 Nottinghamshire Police Authority has revealed plans to save money by closing three police stations in the county. The Nottinghamshire Police Estates Review has recommended closing Bingham, Warsop and Wollaton stations plus nine police contact points. Neighbourhood officers at the 12 sites would be relocated to council premises or shops, the police authority said. The closures would save £260,000 in running costs and raise £1.2m from the sale of the buildings. The police contact points affected are North Leverton, Bilsthorpe, East Leake, Misterton, Hickling Court, Barrowhill Walk, Shireoaks Court, William…

Hi all, I am currently a serving Staffordshire SC, but due to the way things are getting for us here, I am seriously thinking about swapping to a force which Utlises it's SCs a little better. So I have a few questions, to see if I can compare how we run, to how you guys run. I read that you have measured and personal fitted Stabbies - I assume this is true? Radios - Seem to be personal issue too? Driving - Are Notts specials trained to drive cars? A-B style, and do you get to use cars, or is it ALL foot patrol? Regulars - How well are you integrated with the regulars? Do you work with them a lot, and do they utilise you well? Training - Are you trained in things l…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-12007412 Moves to force more than 80 long-serving Nottinghamshire police officers to retire as part of wider savings have been approved. Earlier this week the government confirmed the force's budget settlement would be down by more than £8m. Nottinghamshire Police Authority has now backed a redundancy plan, including compulsory retirement for officers with 30 years' pensionable service. Critics have said losing experienced officers is a short-sighted move. The use of Regulation A19 - the compulsory retirement of police with 30 years' pensionable service - will affect 86 officers, ranging from constables to superi…

Many thanks in advance * Apologies to anyone seeing the title and thinking that Notts are recruiting. I've just notices how it looks, but can't edit the title.
