Leicestershire Police

Just to say I passed my medical today and I have been declared "Fit for police duty, with no restrictions." I'm so close to starting my training! All I need now is for recruitment to get back to me about vetting, and when I can get my uniform fitted, then hopefully I can join the cohort for either October or November. All you guys have been really helpful and put many of my worries, my thanks to you all, and sorry if I kept asking you each loads of questions :D Don't think your let off though, I'm probably going to have plenty more coming up

Was speaking to someone at HQ on Saturday who had heard that they weren't successful getting into the regs, wondering if anyone else had heard anything? Obviously they said that we would know by the 28th so i'm not worried just yet but was interested to find out...

Passed the assesment day today. can not say how pleased I am. I just thought I'd write a note to anyone who may have their assesment comming up in the near future. Do not worry about it, besause once it's finished you'll think to yourself "I don't know what I got so worked up about". Just look at what is being presented before you and deal with it accordingly, don't try and second guess. Don't try and please the exameners they just want to see how you handle the situation and how you talk to people. If you get the law wrong, it can be put right but if you don't deal with the people right it can't. So in short, just relax, have fun and I guarantee you will enjoy it.

Well i've now got a date for my medical which is september 14th :D I just wondered what happens after this. Will recruitment contact me when my vetting and references complete? Also will uniform fitting not take place until these two last bits are complete? How long does medical ususally take on the day? I'm assuming the majority of it is quite quick, eg. height, weight, BMI. Hopefully these final bits should be finished quickly now, so I can get a place on the october course. If not there is the november course thankfully

Managed to get 8.1 on the bleep test and 53/51 on push/pull :D Pretty chuffed to be honest. Just have to exercise a bit more to improve on all the scores. Just have to pass the medical now

Does anyone here work at either station? I just got a load of forms through today which I have to send off asap. One of them is called consideration of placement, and one of the questions is 'Which location/area do you wish to be considered for in relation to the skills outlined above and why'? I'm assuming I just put down which station and why. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what its like working at either. Cheers :D

Does anyone know what Leicestershire Police's policy is for retinal reattachment surgery?? I had surgery for a detached retinal last year. I have passed the required eyesight test but OH seems to think there could be a policy in place that could potentially stop me going any further. This looks like its could be my eleventh hour stumbling block and I'd be gutted if the stops me from progressing

How is everyone finding the new black t-shirts? I have not worn mine yet as I have done a few plain clothes duties. I've heard both good and bad opinions.

When exactly did the name change happen? Are they going to gradually replace everything, or do it pronto? For instance if I pass my upcoming fitness test, medical, vetting etc, and go to the uniform fitting, are the custodian helmets going to say Leicestershire police, rather than constabulary? On another note what is peoples opinions of the name change? Cheers

Just generally wondered what happens during this part, and is it going to be on the same day as my fitness test or at a later stage? On my letter it says I will 'be medically screened by the force occupational health nurse.' Does anything else 'medical' happen after this bit? Cheers :D
