Hi all i have my assessment date for the specials in october as part of the DMU policing course, wondering what the assessment is going to be like and what scenarios and questions they will ask and how i should go about it, also how long would I have to wait till i find out if i passed? Cheers!

Hey guys, So I am currently going through the Leicestershire Police recruitment process for the Regs. I have passed the SEARCH assessment centre in ryton and have my fitness test in July. I have heard that if you are applying from within the force (special constable, pcso or police staff) that you do not have the force interview. Can anybody confirm this? Thanks,

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone is based at the Oakham station and if they could give me some insight as to what it's like to work there and patrol the surrounding areas. On another note, does anyone know who the training (tutor) officers are? Many thanks Matt

Well I found out what station I'm being based at and my collar number :D Is anybody based at Beaumont Leys, or knows what its like? I had asked for Mansfield House, but its no bother because I was thinking of Beaumont Leys before that anyway. It only takes about 10-15 mins for me to get to either.

Hi all, My girlfriend's relative lives outside of the UK and is intending to come to the UK in two years time to study criminology at Leicester. Apparently they encourage students to become SCs as part of this course (I don't know whether it's mandatory to become an SC or not, but it is encouraged). Her relative is British but has obviously been out of the UK for some time. Would the vetting rules be the same with regard to how long they've been in the UK before they can become an SC? Have you, or any SCs you know joined as a student of Leicester Uni and know whether the vetting would be an issue for overseas students (although her relative is British, presumably if …

How would you rate either Polimil or Arco? I went to Polimil today and they seemed really helpful and knowledgable, if a bit pushy! The guy was saying to me, 'If you walk out here with a pair of magnums I'll be upset' :new_eyebrow: I thought Magnums were supposed to be really good! Instead he showed me some Haix to try on and I have to admit they were great. Nice and snug, good sole and material, room to move your toes, waterproof and all that. I've reserved these two boots for the next few days because I'm going to have a look in Arco as well. Has anybody got an opinion on Haix boots? Plus is Arco actually any good? So chuffed, just found out I have passed the assessment day for the regulars, nearly managed the transition from SC-PC in less than a year now! well two years since I handed in my form, but still :D

I've passed my assessment and I'm pretty confident for the fitness, vetting and medical etc. The only bit that slightly concerns me is the eyesight bit. I have to bring a form to my optician for him to fill out after a test. I wear glasses and have only slight correction, so I should be fine. I was having a look at my last checkup(which was two years ago!) and that meets the force requirements easily. Just wondering what peoples experiences of this part was like? Cheers :D
