Parents who allowed their seven-year-old daughter to drive their car before posting footage on YouTube have been criticised by roads groups. The two-minute video, posted in August, shows the youngster driving through the streets of Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire while sat on her motherâs lap. In the video the girl is seen sounding the horn at a pedestrian, waving to other road users and tells hers parents: âIâll park in the drive all by myself. I donât need help at all.â Neil Greig, director of policy and research at the institute of advance motorists, branded the stunt âirresponsible parentingâ and said criminal charges could be brought. http://news.stv.tv/north/208403…

The government says the existing tagging contract does not allow compulsory tagging or the use of GPS technologyA police and crime commissioner is calling for persistent offenders to be fitted with tags so they can be tracked in real time. Olly Martins, Labour PCC for Bedfordshire, wants GPS technology used on a compulsory basis. He said the plan had the support of the courts and the county's chief constable but was being held up by the government over a "minor contractual quibble". The Home Office said PCCs were right to have begun making policing plans. Continue reading the main story “Start Quote Olly MartinsPCC for Bedfordshire Bedfordshire Police have been tr…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/9893459/Most-officers-considering-leaving-in-wake-of-police-reforms.html Most officers 'considering leaving' in wake of police reforms Most rank-and-file officers are considering leaving the service in the wake of the most radical reforms of policing in more than 30 years, a survey has showed. Wide-ranging changes to force pay, conditions and recruitment under a controversial review by Tom Winsor, now the Chief Inspector of Constabulary, have left officers facing uncertainty over their future, researchers found. More than half (51%) of the officers surveyed said they “would consider looking for alternative employmen…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-21065040 Sounds like a curious case. Taking a photograph of someone in a public place is not an offence per se, but clearly taking 70,000 photographs is. Most likely it was the "sexual element", but there are no details as to what that was exactly, in conjunction with the fact that the women were of "various ages". I personally would take that to mean that some of them were under 16 years old. But that is pure speculation on my part. Initial thoughts?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21579422 There's an interesting piece............... I particularly liked this quote "Using the footage and the location of an impact into Lake Chebarkul, Jorge Zuluaga and Ignacio Ferrin, from the University of Antioquia in Medellin were able to use simple trigonometry to calculate the height, speed and position of the rock as it fell to Earth." Simple trigonmetry. From what I recall of my school days (quiet at the back) trigonometry is fairly simple, in 2 dimensions........ I bet this was actually quite difficult and used all sorts of very clever people and some big computers..............they've had to look at footage,…
