Even with all that is going on within the Lib.Dem. party at the moment, I still hope they win. I am in now way whatsoever a supporter of them, it's just that if that man Cameron wins, he will just say that all he is doing for the country is working, AND IT ISN'T.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-21699007 Whoops. West Yorkshire can't make Leeds pay for the policing of the area on match days. So they now have to repay £1million to Leeds. Seems a trifle unfair - football being awash with money and police forces not having much of it. But there you go, as is seen time and time again, fairness has sod all to do with anything. I'm sure Leeds (as a football club) brings loads of money into the city (and to the council) - and at some point, some of that does go back to the police.................. Policing isn't here to make money, but by the same token, we're not really in the business of being able to control a lot of t…

Couldn't see another thread on this... From: http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/news/Pages/pr_070313_newpowers.aspx A major seed change - but what prevents someone just saying "I can't remember?"... Also interestingly, what if your employer says you're not having the time off to go to it?

I just don't understand the thoughts behind North Korea's politburo. Why, ultimately, would they (or anyone else for that matter), want to trigger off a nuclear exchange, when it must be abundantly clear to them that they will receive the wrath of many nuclear powers (not to mention China). I know that China have many policies of their own, but having said that, many years ago, if my memory serves me well, Edward Heath did a lot on his visits to them to greatly improve relations between them (China) and the West during the cold war with the then USSR. I hope East West relations still remain good today for what is going on at present. Particularly now that they have the ne…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-21653018 Police officers failed to carry out checks on a psychiatric patient who murdered a woman, which would have revealed that she had killed before, a report has found. Oooo, look, another story by the BBC about how awful police are. They failed to carry out a PNC check on a female who was having a MH episode. If they had it would have shown that she had been sentenced for manslaughter before. I have dealt with hundreds of people with MH issues and they do tend to have these previous convictions, because thats part of the cause of the convictions. It doesnt have a huge impact on how they are dealt with. But i suppose you h…

Community slams police for hanging knitted pom-poms from trees 'to help reduce the fear of crime' Police officers spent hours hanging knitted pom-poms from trees in a bizarre bid to 'reduce the fear of crime' - rather than going after criminals. Residents around Bede Park in Leicester say they want more street lighting and CCTV cameras after a survey found people living there felt more at risk than anywhere else in the city. Academics say the fluffy…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21669720 Scottish government police target hit despite fallScottish ministers have said targets on keeping up police officer numbers were being exceeded, despite a small drop at the end of last year. The government said the total represented an increase of more than 1,200 since the SNP came to power. Scotland's eight police forces are being merged into a single, national service next month. The Police Federation of England and Wales has failed to achieve enough votes to lobby the government for industrial rights. An online ballot by the federation, which has more than 130,000 members, was open to all police ranks. Although a majority voted "yes", just under half of the members took part which is not enough to seek a mandate. Police Minister Damian Green said he was "pleased" the majority of officers did not want the right to strike. It is illegal for police officers to take industrial action. BBC home affairs correspondent Dominic Casciani says the vote was about sending a message to ministers that ordinary police officers are fed up with reforms. "The fact t…

http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/LocalPages/NewsDetails.aspx?nsid=27055&t=4 Avon and Somerset's new Chief Constable seems to have a whole load of experience and has had a very interesting career. I'm sure he'll be a real credit to the force. I hope he brings lots of fresh ideas and I admire him for wanting to get to know the officers on the ground. I wonder if he will make a habit of occasionally going out on patrol? He is my new idol. I want to have a career life like his
