Wiltshire policeman faces sack for cell attack on woman A policeman is facing the sack after he was caught on CCTV throwing a woman into a cell, badly injuring her. The footage also shows Sgt Mark Andrews dragging the woman across the floor of Melksham police station in Wiltshire. The woman, now 59, was arrested in July 2008 after being found asleep in her car. Her treatment left her with facial injuries and needing hospital care. Andrews has been convicted of causing the woman actual bodily harm and is expected to be dismissed from his job. A WEST Mercia Police officer who secretly hacked into colleagues’ computers has not lost his job, but is facing a disciplinary hearing, it has emerged. I wonder how much money this has cost Wiltshire rate payers in reviews and appeals by the Chief Constable, and having to pay Andrews costs as well, a small fortune no doubt, which could have been spent on more important things. A local Wilts paper put the costs at over £250,000., not including his back pay.

From the Police Oracle: New recruits at Hampshire Constabulary will have a starting salary of £21,500 after the forces chief constable and police and crime commissioner (PCC) rejected Tom Winsors proposed £19,000 starting salary - following concerns from the local Police Federation.
