Force defends its staffing levels after a man is jailed for pummelling an officer with his own CS Spray canister outside a pub.A force has insisted it allocated resources appropriately after a man who repeatedly beat a single-crewed officer around the head with his own CS spray canister was jailed for almost three years. Michael Dolan (49) felled PC Glen Hill outside a pub in Rotherham in November last year and set about punching him repeatedly while he lay helpless on the ground. He also took the officer’s own CS spray canister and struck him up to 30 times around the head. Dolan (pictured), who was drunk and on steroids at the time, was jailed for two years and eight …

I do hope that the police are able to trace this man and arrest him and that the suspect remains alive. Whilst I have not a jot of feeling for the guy, to arrest him alive will clearly give the authorities a chance to obtain no end of intel. as to who they are and what if any organisation they are connected to etc. Info. that they will not be able to get now from the other dead suspect. I can understand how the police will feel when they do come face to face with this second guy though.

The arrests followed the anonymous leaking of documents detailing the £700-cost of two round-trips taken by Richard Rhodes, the police and crime commissioner (PCC) for Cumbria, in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes. His office cited reasons of “personal safety” for taking the luxury car to the speaking engagements. Mr Rhodes, who earns £65,000 a year, now faces an inquiry from the panel that oversees his work following a complaint from the public, the chairwoman confirmed last night. However, th…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/10004195/Police-arresting-fewer-criminals-say-official-new-figures.html The number of suspects arrested by police fell more than twice as fast as the decline in crime rates last year, official figures have disclosed. This is quite a nice piece. The actual statistics are given and then there is a long list of different political persons giving their reason for the fall, be that less police, more police time freed up, crime is down, crime is up, people are getting away with it and people not getting away with it. On the whole there are probably some quite reasonable reasons for the drop, but they wouldnt score any political po…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-22183589 It's not just me that thinks it's outrageous he WASN'T registered as a sex offender? For raping an 11 year old girl, and previously sexually assaulting a 12 year old? Is that not the sort of heinous acts the register was designed for? Apologies for the unruly format of the post, I can't for the life of me work out how to format it

Home Secretary Theresa May has said she wants to know if the case of a Norfolk police officer suing a garage owner was "symptomatic" of a claims culture among officers.Mrs May told the Home Affairs Select Committee it was important to find out more before reviewing any guidelines. Kelly Jones, 33, is currently seeking payment from a petrol station in Thetford, Norfolk. She claims she tripped while investigating a break-in in August. Mrs May told MPs that while not wanting to comment on the case she has asked her staff to find out if it was a one-off incident or "symptomatic of a culture".
