How Britain is becoming a SAFER place to live: Rate of murders and violent crime falling faster than anywhere in Western Europe Rates of violent crime in Britain have tumbled faster than anywhere else in Western Europe over the past decade, a new report has revealed. The rate of homicide has fallen by half since 2003, while every region of the UK has become more peaceful despite the country's economic turmoil. But there are wide variations between dangerous inner-city areas and far more quiet rural regions, as the London borough of Lewisham was named the most violent place and Broadland in Norfolk the least - with just eight incidents of armed violence last year. Inspirational Security Solutions boasts that it provides safety advice and training in undercover investigations, and that its executives are ‘politically aware’. Mr Hurley has also caused controversy by appointing a former colleague in the Met as his £50,000-a-year deputy. He has declared hi…

Home Secretary Theresa May has said she wants to know if the case of a Norfolk police officer suing a garage owner was "symptomatic" of a claims culture among officers. Mrs May told the Home Affairs Select Committee it was important to find out more before reviewing any guidelines. Kelly Jones, 33, is currently seeking payment from a petrol station in Thetford, Norfolk. She claims she tripped while investigating a break-in in August. Mrs May told MPs that while not wanting to comment on the case she has asked her staff to find out if it was a one-off incident or "symptomatic of a culture". "We don't want members of the public to feel that they can't ring 999 because …

Today marks the anniversary of the murder of Woman Police Constable Yvonne Fletcher, shot to death 29 years ago in 1984 at a demonstration outside the Libyan Peoples Bureau in London. 2 years later in 1986 this was an instrumental factor in Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's decision to allow US President Ronald Regan to use US airbases in England to bomb Libya. It's ironic that Baroness Thatcher is buried on the anniversary of Yvonne's death. May you both Rest In Peace.
