An interesting article in the BBC. This might be the sign of things to come in English forces, if amalgamations are planned. I think they are inevitable. In Scotland the merger of the 8 forces has been met with a great deal of resentment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-24359112

A BRAND new police patrol car with just 400 miles on the clock was rammed by a pick-up truck driver who feared officers would discover he was banned from the roads. Audio from in-car cameras capture a tongue-in-cheek discussion between motorway officers saying they hoped disqualified driver Chad Harrison wouldn’t shunt their high-spec BMW X5 – delivered just days earlier – as they attempted to pull him over. However, just moments after Harrison stopped on a single-track lane near the A449 in Stourbridge he did exactly that, reversing his flat-bed truck into the 4x4 twice and causing significant damage before speeding off. The 27-year-old’s attempt to disable the 13-pla…

I've heard it all now when it comes to greed. In my local paper is a story of Liam Fox MP, he of Werritty fame, who was sacked for dubious practices by David Cameron. Fox put in for a mileage claim for THREE PENCE, for a journey to a meeting a few yards from his home. Fox is the man who claimed £170.000(hundred and seventy thousand) to run his office, the second highest in parliament. He made 16 claims all under £1 pound for car journeys. No wonder people think MPs are greedy. Let's hope the people of North Somerset vote him out in 2015.

Volunteers on horseback recruited by Hampshire Police VOLUNTEERS will be riding on horseback to keep rural communities safe across Hampshire. Hampshire police have teamed up with a horse volunteer scheme to ensure that lanes, bridleways and roads in the countryside are patrolled to stop crime in its tracks. Twelve riders from the Hampshire Horsewatch scheme have been appointed to patrol these areas in branded high-visibility jackets, while their horses will be kitted out in protective clothing. They will patrol Manor Farm Country Park, near Hedge End, and the New Forest on the lookout for anything suspicious. Rural crime includes a range of issues such as theft, fly…

Link - http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/433913/Officers-desert-the-beat-amid-woes-over-single-police-force Interesting article that follows up on MacGregor's earlier topic. I've been hearing a lot recently about Aberdeen cops leaving to go and work in the oil industry. I was recently made aware of a colleague up that way, through a mutual friend in my division, who has tripled his salary since he left to go and work offshore. I can see more and more officers leaving with the way things are going.

Cameron will be delighted tonight with yet another UKIP own goal. With ex party MEPs describing the party as similar to hitlers national socialist party in the 1920's, and fararge like Mugabe, then surely the alarm bells must be starting to ring for most of their non racist supporters.

I read this article and was embarrassed for her. Why on earth would she try this test in the public eye, if she ever thought she would fail it http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2434776/Police-chief-constable-Jacqui-Cheer-fails-fitness-test-officers-beat.html

http://topconservativenews.com/2013/09/ed-milliband-furious-that-daily-mail-exposed-his-communist-father/ I have no idea how Milliband Snr felt about his country, and I feel for anyone who has a loved one bad-mouthed publicly, but am I the only one feeling the irony of politicians complaining about a Daily Mail smear campaign?!

This is long overdue. Cautions should never have been issued for serious offences so the ability to issue them will be taken from the police. A few officers (acting upon initiative or targets) have now spoilt it for everybody else. Now if there is a genuine case where a caution would have sufficed the officer will have to prepare a file for court.
