Checkout the video, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-24335309 but wow! I didn't know this. Fascinating stuff. I had a look for existing threads, most relevant one was locked and lots of the others were about Moat but very different topics. New one regarding this specifically seemed ok.

Got no time for people like this who waste police time and the 999 service. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-24441221

Govt flagship private prison Oakwood, being run by G4S has been completely slammed by HM Prisons Inspectorate. Their findings could not be more damning of G4S, and Chris Grayling was humiliated in the commons with Damien Green cringing beside him. The worm is truly staring to turn, and the roosters coming home to roost at the same time.

A crime victim who was beaten almost to death by a baseball bat-wielding gang of thugs is fighting a landmark battle for compensation from Humberside police. The case was heard at London's Appeal Court Photo: ALAMY In the first case of its kind, Grimsby man, Christopher Sarjantson, says the force violated his human rights by taking too long to react to a 999 call. Mr Sarjantson was an innocent by-stander when a gang of youths armed with baseball bats - who were looking for someone else - laid into him in Dame Kendal Grove in the early hours of September 9 2006. He suffered grave head injuries, resulting in short and long-term memory loss. After a police inves…

HILLSBOROUGH If past experience is anything to go by, the result of this enquiry will be lucky if it is published by 2017. The IPCC has a very poor record of working anything other than Snails Pace, and this will be no different.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/10336479/Respect-the-police-says-Britains-top-officer.html - can anyone please tell us what Howe has done in his two years to improve the Met, most Met officers I talk to say there has been no difference since Blair and Stephenson departed. Ken MacDonald says it is outrageous that the Met have taken a year to investigate Plebgate, perhaps he would like to ask the IPCC why they take up to FOUR years to investigate incidents, even simple ones take them a year. Lord Macdonald said it was "outrageous" that the force had yet to publish a conclusion about the 45-second incident, more than a year after it took place.

Link to article: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/sep/28/ending-war-on-drugs-cut-crime-mike-barton Very interesting to see a serving CC becoming part of a growing number of public figures who want to see reform in our drug laws. I wonder if anyone else in the job will come out and support him?

An interesting concept, but not sure why they have the need to be dressed like a fake PCSO. The horse looks like a Walt to in that Hi-Viz garb!!! VOLUNTEERS will be riding on horseback to keep rural communities safe across Hampshire. Hampshire police have teamed up with a horse volunteer scheme to ensure that lanes, bridleways and roads in the countryside are patrolled to stop crime in its tracks. Twelve riders from the Hampshire Horsewatch scheme have been appointed to patrol these areas in branded high-visibility jackets, while their horses will be kitted out in protective clothing. They will patrol Manor Farm Country Park, near Hedge End, and the New Forest on th…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-24431269 http://news.sky.com/story/1151328/hillsborough-police-may-have-edited-video As we approach yet another round of public-funded inquests and further enquiries into what every sane person realises was a tragic accident, is it not time we drew a line under the whole affair and stopped this seemingly endless performance. Much has happened since 1989, stadiums are entirely different, the police is different, health and safety is unrecognisable from what it was. I know it sometimes seems like one of those subjects that one dare not challenge, but I think enough is enough. Move on, stop your witch-hunt, there are far …

CAUSE: "Essex Police chiefs have refused to allow front line officers to use "spit hoods" - designed to protect officers and staff from being spat at by detainees." EFFECT: "Four police officers face prosecution after a mentally ill prisoner died in custody when a restraining belt was fixed across his mouth to prevent him from 'spitting or biting" You do your job as demanded, go through the NDMM and the best tactical option has been denied by the SLT should they be stood in the dock with you when things go wrong?

Burglars should be given longer prison sentences because 'numerous' criminals just re-offend while on parole, one of Britain's top judges said today. Michael Stokes QC said offenders were being granted parole well before they served half of their sentences and used that time to commit further crimes. The outspoken senior judge, who sits at Nottingham Crown Court, said multiple offenders should be treated in the same way as sex offenders and violent criminals. His Honour Judge Stokes QC believes multiple offenders like Philip Kelly, left, should be treated in the same way as sex offenders and violent criminals He is now demanding the courts are given the option…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-24336895 Dorset Police outsource crime scene guardingThe guarding of scenes of major crimes in Dorset is being outsourced to the private security firm Securitas. As part of a four-month trial by Dorset Police, Securitas personnel will now remain on scene. Dorset Police said the measure could release up to 3,600 police hours to front line services every year. Det Ch Supt Mark Cooper said it had been "tried and tested" by other forces, but the Police Federation said it was "privatisation". Mr Cooper, head of Dorset Police Criminal Justice Department, said: "Specially trained scene officers will be able to perform this task to…

http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/home-news/sharp-increase-in-number-of-officers-quitting-police-scotland.22308743 Sharp increase in number of officers quitting Police ScotlandRECORD numbers of officers have left since Police Scotland was created in April, according to new figures obtained by The Herald. During the first five months of the new single force there was a 49% increase in officers leaving the service - excluding those who left due to retirement, ill health or end of service - when compared with the same time period last year. The sharp increase has been attributed to a variety of factors, including dissatisfaction from some officers in the east and north-…
