http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2587628/The-Red-Princes-Minister-warns-rise-political-dynasties-sons-Kinnock-Straw-Prescott-Blair-seek-election.html If there are any doubts about whether politicians are in their business for their own benefit, I think this article indicates that there's a lot afoot that should worry the electorate. Mind you, it's not just princes but married couples (the worst must surely be The Balls) and the apparent over-representation of The Eton "set". I thought the days had long gone when fathers aspired for their sons to follow them in their occupation but maybe not? Anyhow, IMHO it's just another example of the level of contempt in…

Statement on Resignation March 24, 2014 by jamesp79 in Uncategorized Date: 24th of March 2014 With deep regret, I have just resigned from the Metropolitan Police Service (‘the MPS’). I am giving several weeks notice, effectively one week for every complete year of service at this time, plus two to conclude the allegations of misconduct. I had intended to resign after the meeting in any case, but disturbing developments have brought this forward. This has not been an easy decision and has certainly been made with no jerk of the knee. I am very proud to have served the public, in the Office of Constable, since the 10th of May 2004 – first at Derbyshire Constabulary …

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26710956 A woman left scarred by an acid attack has accused Scotland Yard of incompetence, saying they initially claimed she had done it to herself. Naomi Oni suffered severe burns when Mary Konye, who has since been jailed for 12 years, threw acid in her face. She told Radio 4's Today programme police were slow to act on information she gave them about the 2012 attack. The Metropolitan Police said they considered all lines of enquiry in the early stages of their investigation. Speaking to Today's Mishal Husain, Ms Oni said it almost felt like she had "been accused of lying" after her then-friend attacked her in Dagenham, east London. Th…

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 30-year-old police officer who died in a fire at his home. PC David Beech was discovered – alongside his two pet dogs – at his home in Wyreley Way, Tunstall, on Sunday morning. The Newcastle-based response officer served as a special constable before joining Staffordshire Police in November 2008. Chief Constable Mike Cunningham said: "Our condolences and my thoughts are with Dave's family, who are understandably devastated by this tragedy. "This is a man who was a fantastic police officer and someone who had been commended for his courage and professionalism in dealing with some very difficult situations. "He had been commended on three o…

A police crackdown on burglary in the Northeast has resulted in more than 400 arrests and sentences totalling 100 years being handed down. Northumbria Police launched Operation Soundwave in July last year in a bid to tackle opportunist crime. The measures have had some success with burglaries in Newcastle down 4 per cent on the same period last year. +18 +18 Partners in crime: Sarah Bunting and Kirk Watson broke into a nightclub intending to steal alcohol but were caught in the venue's loading bay. Watson had been sentenced for breaking into another club last year Among those now behind bars are Sarah Bunting, 30, and Kirk Watson, 29, both of Howe St…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2587095/Red-tape-Its-criminal-Jobsworths-tell-former-Scotland-Yard-commander-Royal-official-police-volunteers--lived-Spain.html - Every Police Force in the Uk has a Jobsworth working for them, the law of averages says so. We do tend to 'shoot ourselves in the foot' at times, I'm sure the Jobsworth who was responsible for this could have used some common sense, on the other hand he may not have any.

Three G4S custody officers will face manslaughter charges over the death of Jimmy Mubenga who died on a plane as he was deported from the UK. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed Colin Kaler, Terrence Hughes and Stuart Tribelnig would be charged. Previously, an inquest jury found Mr Mubenga was unlawfully killed by G4S guards who were restraining him. The 46-year-old died after falling ill as a flight prepared to leave Heathrow Airport for Angola, in October 2010. In a statement, the CPS said it had "reviewed the evidence" relating to the death and believed there was "sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction". It said: "We had previously de…

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/mar/21/falkirk-mp-eric-joyce-guilty-abusive-edinburgh-airport - this is the type of Scum we have as an MP. He has been in many brawels in the House of Commons and elsewhere. The man isn't fit to be an MP and should be sacked. How this Scrote managed to get to be an Officer in the Army is beyond belief.

Nice one Northumbria (and nice to see some positive reporting from the DM for once) Although the courts once again seem to be light on sentencing - 44 months for a recently released recidivist burglar and 12 months for 4 burglarys including one where the homeowner found the burglar in her home seems to me that the punishment still doesnt fit the crime

Officers said the emu "wasn't best pleased" to see them and resisted capture Two police officers were left chasing a mystery emu found in a garden before capturing it in their patrol car. The bird was spotted in a garden in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, earlier and eventually cornered in a garage. The two officers managed to grab the bird and it was then given a ride in their police car to a nearby animal park. Shirley Morrell, owner of Tattershall Farm Park, said the emu had suffered "a bit of a trauma getting arrested". Initial inquiries have failed to track down where the bird came from. The owners of the bird, thought to be a rare white emu and relatively young, are…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-foyle-west-26642097 This is a short clip of what happened and on the face of it looks shocking but I think I will wait until the full circumstances are known before passing judgement.

www.theguardian.com › Culture › Music › Bez Apparently Bez, formerly of the "Madchester" cultural phenomenon of the late 80s and early 90s, is to stand as a political candidate for my home city of Salford. Bez is Salford-born and bred, hugely popular and from a policing family (his Dad was a DI in GMP), therefore I would contend that he is obscenely over qualified for the role.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-26608611 More than 4,600 children have been strip-searched by the Metropolitan Police over the last five years, according to figures. The 4,638 children aged between 10 and 16 were dealt with between April 2008 and the end of 2013, being asked to remove clothes before being searched. About a third of them were then released without charge. The Met said a recent inspection found the use of strip-search to be "proportionate and appropriate". It has not given details of why these searches were carried out, although the procedure is used for evidence-gathering. 'Safety and security' The figures obtained by the The Guardian ne…
