TWO Sussex Police officers have been suspended following an incident in Heathfield. On Friday the authority suspended two officers from the East Sussex Policing team after an incident involving woman in a police car. The pair are under investigation for gross misconduct and the professional standards department will be heading the investigation. A Sussex Police spokesman said: "On 28 March two uniformed police officers from East Sussex division were suspended from operational duties. Police 'damaged but not broken' By Dominic Casciani Home affairs correspondent, BBC News An annual assessment of policing in England and Wales says it has been damaged - but not broken - by scandals. HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary Tom Winsor said scandals and revelations had damaged public confidence and the morale of honest hardworking officers. In his annual report to Parliament, he said it was the responsibility of chief constables to repair the damage. Devon, England: A criminal who is 7ft 2in tall has escaped jail because he is too big for prison beds. The 23-year-old giant, Jude Medcalf, was also too large for prison uniforms, a judge decided. Medcalf, who admitted a series of crimes, was ordered to be released as he suffers from a little-known growth disorder, Klinefelter syndrome. He terrified an innocent woman by firing a BB gun at her through a window, Exeter Crown Court in Devon was told. He then went on to steal Christmas presents and tea money from an NHS office.
