A teenage moped rider has been rushed to hospital with leg injuries after he crashed into a police car following a chase in central London. The 17-year-old was being chased by two police cars before the crash at 4.30am on Saturday at Hyde Park Corner. Police said they were in pursuit of a moped with two riders on it after they had reports of it being involved in a “series of offences”. Return to News 3 August 2018 A man from Bradford has today been sentenced to 13 years in prison for supplying heroin while out on licence for a similar offence. Fariman Khan (46, pictured right) was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court, alongside Francis Cooper (61, pictured left) both from Reynolds Avenue. Cooper was jailed for seven years. Khan was also given a SCPO (Serious Crime Prevention Order) which will start at the end of his sentence. For five years after he is released from prison, Khan will be subject to some strict restrictions, including what bank accounts he can hold and what communication devices he can use. Return to News 1 August 2018 A truck driver who claimed the eight kg of cocaine found in his lorry was tobacco has been jailed for nine years. It took the jury just 20 minutes at Canterbury Crown Court to convict 52 year-old Lithuanian Vaidotas Tuoma of drug smuggling yesterday (31st July). The Class A drugs have a street value of around £653,000 On 5 February this year, Border Force officers stopped Tuoma’s vehicle at the UK bound freight lanes of Channel Tunnel at Coquelles. Two police officers who used their patrol car to knock a criminal off his motor scooter after a high-speed chase have been praised by a judge. Police constables George Anckorn and Russell Mellis were in a marked police car when they saw 19-year-old Abdirizak Kheyre on a stolen scooter in Islington. A police officer who sawed and smashed his way through a suspect's windscreen with a knife has been cleared of common assault and damaging property. Joshua Savage, 28, was accused of attacking Leon Fontana's Ford Fiesta with a baton before cutting the glass with a lock knife on September 16 2016.
