Just heard West Yorkshire Police have found 9 tear old Shannon Matthews alive and well hidden in the base of a divan bed in a house near to where she disappeared three weeks ago. A huge well done from me to WYP, it is stories like this that are the reason I want to join the Service and never forget what a good job you guys do achieve in amongst all the rubbish and red tape that you all have to put up with. Excellent work.

Police inspector's body washed up. The body of a Dorset police inspector has been found washed ashore at an expensive seaside peninsula. Police said the body of Insp Neil Munro, 43, was found along Panorama Road, nicknamed "Millionaire's Row", in Sandbanks, at about 0830 GMT. A gardener is reported to have found the body under a jetty belonging to a multi-million pound seafront mansion. He is thought to have suffered head injuries, but police have not confirmed whether the death is suspicious. It is understood officers were alerted by the owners of the house, which was then sealed off. A sad day indeed, not just for his wife and children, but also to the office…

Wrongly jailed PC returns to duty A police officer, jailed for 18 months when colleagues suppressed evidence, has returned to work after 12 years. Pc Sultan Alam had his 1996 conviction for conspiracy to steal motor vehicle parts quashed on appeal last year. In 2004, four Cleveland officers were accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, but the charges were dismissed by a crown court judge. Pc Alam, 45, returned to work with the Cleveland force on Monday and was welcomed by Chief Constable Sean Price. The father-of-two has said he was targeted by fellow officers when he brought a racial discrimination case against the force in 1993. At his appeal court…

Sir Ian Blair was facing a growing backlash from his officers yesterday after controversial police chief Ali Dizaei was shortlisted for a major promotion. Chief Superintendent Dizaei, who has made outspoken claims of racism in the Metropolitan Police, is among several candidates hoping to be selected for the rank of Commander on £90,000 a year. Sources close to Mr Dizaei claim he has been promised by Yard chiefs that he will be promoted later this month. One said: "Ali is very confident about his chances. It appears Sir Ian has given him every encouragement." He was passed over for promotion 12 months ago after he angered colleagues by writing a book about his tim…

Federation: 'Police officers talking of striking. That should tell this government about just how far they have pushed us'... At a national meeting held today in Birmingham, aimed to coincide with the Labour Party spring conference, the Police Federation of England and Wales launched a poll of its 140,000 members. The decision to hold the poll comes in light of the Home Secretary's decision not to implement in full the decision of the independent Police Arbitration Tribunal on police officer pay. Police officers will be asked whether they wish the Federation to begin to lobby for full industrial rights for them. The meeting comes a month after the march through centra…
