Notorious chief constable Richard Brunstrom is facing demands to resign after publicly claiming that the illegal rave drug ecstasy is safer than aspirin. In his latest bizarre proclamation, he insisted that the drug - which claims almost 50 lives a year - was a "remarkably safe substance". And he went on to dismiss what he called "scaremongering" over the dangers, while predicting that all drugs would be legalised within ten years. The comments from the gaffe-prone head of the North Wales force infuriated the families of youngsters who died after taking ecstasy. Des Delaney, whose 18-year-old daughter Siobhan was killed by a single pill at a nightclub two years ago, s…

MI5 have since last year, lowered the current national terrorist threat to heightened, not sure why when Great Britain is still a high risk target for terrorists to come back and cause another attack in London like the July 7th Attack. :smiley_offtopic: When I was at school, we used to go to Aldershot Military Stadium for sports day. 1 Year, the army had found an active bomb hidden underneath one of the seats in the stadium and told the head master that he can't hold sports day that day because of the unexploded bomb. Anyway, the surrounding area was cordened off whilst the Bomb Disposal Squad did their bit, then 2 hours later we were given the All Clear! Thanks to A…

Police anger at Commons march 'ban' Jamie Doward, home affairs editor Sunday December 30, 2007 The Observer Police last night accused the government of attempting to ban 10,000 officers from marching through Westminster in a mass protest over their pay award. The demonstration would be the force's biggest since 1919. Relations between the Home Office and the force have fallen to a new low, with the Police Federation of England and Wales, the body that represents 124,000 rank-and-file officers, claiming the government is 'interfering behind the scenes' over plans for the march to Parliament on 23 January. The high-profile demonstration, intended to highlight the for…

The lost time cost the taxpayer around £3 million. The figures from England, Wales and Scotland reflect a disturbing pattern in recent years of more serious attacks on officers. …

Police chief backs instant fines -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On-the-spot fines are helping police fight anti-social behaviour, according to a chief constable. Ian McPherson, who heads the Norfolk force, claims the £80 cash demands have stopped vandals in their tracks and impressed the public. He explained that imposing the fines also erased the need for a lot of paperwork and allowed officers to continue on shift. Mr McPherson said over 1,000 instant fines were handed out in 2007. He vowed to use more in future and officers would utilise them to clamp down on vandalism and drunkenness. Instant justice "A…
