Kenny Spence had pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of the officer, along with possession of a firearm and GBH with intent in relation to a separate shooting incident following a joint operation between the Met and Essex police. Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have been praised after they helped rescue a man from drowning in London's Camden Lock in freezing conditions. On Saturday 7 February, at 17:58hrs, the male PCSOs were patrolling the area when they were alerted to a man who had fallen into the canal and not resurfaced. One requested assistance via his personal radio while the other used a torch to conduct a search of the water. Very quickly the PCSOs spotted a body beneath the surface. One of the officers lay down on the ground and edged forward. He submerged his shoulders in the freezing icy canal in order to reach the man. The officers required considerable physical strength…

Kirk's stunts were caught on camera Marc Kirk drove towards oncoming traffic on the motorway near Rochdale in Greater Manchester after having an argument with his girlfriend. CCTV footage shows other vehicles slam on their brakes as Kirk, 20, does a U-turn and a handbrake turn in the middle of the carriageway. Fifteen crew members on a South African Airways (SAA) flight have been arrested after cocaine with a street value of £250,000 was seized at Heathrow. The arrests were made by UK Border Agency officers at the London airport. They uncovered five kilos (11lbs) of the Class A drug in a piece of baggage on the flight from Johannesburg. Last month, 15 other SAA crew members were arrested after cocaine and cannabis was uncovered at Heathrow in a separate incident. Three police officers were injured when a patrol car collided with a police dog van and crashed into a bank. An ambulance crew was called to Cambridge city centre at about midnight but no one required serious treatment and a dog in the van was unhurt. Police could not confirm if they were responding to an emergency call before the crash happened at the Hills Road and Regent Street junction. SmartWater shows up under ultra-violet light A North Wales Police station is the latest to install technology to allow burglary and theft suspects to be scanned for incriminating evidence. St Asaph station, which covers Denbighshire and Conwy, now has UV lighting to detect any traces of a chemical called SmartWater. The force has seen more businesses and schools using a spray device with the water to protect their property. The scheme has also been successfully used in other UK police forces. Three men have been found guilty of murdering a man who was gunned down in front of his four-year-old son. A balaclava-clad gunman fired nine bullets at Mark Tredinnick, 39, from a sub-machine gun, in Benskins Lane, Romford in Essex, the Old Bailey heard. Mr Tredinnick of Collier Row, east London, was killed because he owed money, the court heard. Brothers Mark and Tony Osborne, aged 26 and 27, and gunman Wayne Collins, 26, were convicted of the murder. Mark Osbourne, who planned the killing while in prison, was convicted on Friday.
