A builder who used a Samurai sword to chop off the ear of a man who had threatened to rape his wife and kill his sons has walked free from court. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/8508980.stm A close one for the jury as going into your house and choosing a weapon instead of picking up what is to hand could show intent to cause injury as oppose to self defence. I think in the circumstances though, with somebody threatening to do what this offender said, you can understand why Mr Fullard did what he did. However, do we risk turning into a vigilante state?

Multiple use of a Taser stun gun by police on a man that was filmed on a mobile phone was "necessary", a report has concluded. In June last year Nottinghamshire Police responded to reports of a disturbance near a city bar. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/notting...ire/8510425.stm I remember this story, and if memory serves me correctly we had a whole host of idiots come on here telling the Police what they thought of them. Want to return and apologise now? I doubt we see much of them. So i will do it for them. WD those Officers who made this arrest, good use of your Tasers saved you getting hurt. And i give a fully apology for those who questioned your methods. Fu…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/north_y...ire/8510089.stm I know this was talked about briefly elsewhere.... but 20,000 people enquiring about 60 jobs? My word! With this many people wanting to fill Police roles, it certainly seems that the forces in question could be more picky about who they employ and also maybe enforce a period of voluntry work first i.e. Specials. I think it would certainly sort the wheat from the chaff about people who really want to fulfill the role as a Constable.

I cannot find the original thread that brings up the subject of self defence, but here we have such a case. WD the jury, i for one am glad this fellow was let off.
