Nick Griffin has defended the violent ejection of a Times journalist from the British National Party’s extraordinary general meeting on Sunday, insisting that it would not go “soft” on political correctness. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/poli...icle7028258.ece The picture featured in the article is quite shocking, is that not assault of 1 form or another, I know it was the BNP but even so, were there security people not a bit OTT? Edited for spelling

Police on Merseyside have had to ground their new drone over concerns it was being used illegally without a licence. Merseyside Police said they had been unaware they needed a licence to fly the £40,000 remote control helicopter fitted with CCTV. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it needed to be consulted over any use of the drones, that can fly up to 400ft and reach speeds of 30mph. The force's new drone was used last week to catch a car thief in thick fog. All unmanned aircraft, not just ones that weigh 15lb (7kg) or more, now have to be licenced to conduct aerial surveillance work after the law changed at the start of the year. They need CAA permission to f…

Source: http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/20000-...hire.6065064.jp A NORTH Yorkshire Police recruitment hotline could not cope with the demand when an "incredible" 20,000 people called in one day to apply for just 60 officer jobs. Police were overwhelmed by the "unprecedented" response to a recruitment drive for new officers when the campaign launched on Monday. The force had to set up a new alternative telephone number for applicants to dial after the original hotline "unforeseen technical difficulties" due to the high number of calls. A North Yorkshire Police spokesman reassured the public that emergency calls and routine operational calls had not been affected b…

A group of schools has been blasted by angry parents after they failed to issue warnings about a man driving a silver Mercedes who has been targeting youngsters at the gates. The man, described as white and in his 30s, has tried to snatch at least four children in the Dartford and Gravesend areas, in a series of incidents linked by the police. An angry group of mothers has condemned the schools in question, claiming it is ‘disgraceful’ that headteachers did not send out warning letters after the incidents. Enlarge Fears: A group of mothers has set up a Facebook page in response to the attempted abductions In protest they have created their own 'stranger dange…

A specialist firearms officer who shot dead a colleague at close range on a police training exercise acted 'instinctively', an inquest was told today. PC Ian Terry, 32, was gunned down holding an unloaded gun as Greater Manchester Police's firearms unit practised in a disused factory in June 2008. The father-of-two was playing the role of a criminal fleeing in a car when he was hit with a single shot of Round Irritant Personnel ammunition. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Opening the inquest into his death, Manchester Coroner Nigel Meadows said the officer who shot him dead claimed he was unaware it was a 'shoot scenario'. The hearing was told th…

BEAT bobbies are to have their shift patterns overhauled to ensure they are on duty when the public need them most. It will mean decisions on shift patterns will take into account the busiest times for crime and also specific problems in areas http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/homenews...il/article.html Does that not happen already? Is it not common sense, to have the more Police on duty on at busy times?

Boycotts and protests by black police associations have not helped to eliminate racism in the Police Service, the country’s most senior black officer has told The Times. Mike Fuller said it was a source of personal disappointment that no other black officer had risen to lead a force since he became Chief Constable of Kent in 2004. He maintained that the way to improve ethnic minority representation in senior ranks was through mentoring and motivation rather than confrontation and political agitation. Mr Fuller’s comments come in the week that Commander Ali Dizaei, a former president of the National Black Police Association (NBPA), was jailed for four years for fal…
