http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-10701733 A Somerset man is seeking legal advice after a police officer accidentally discharged a 50,000 volt Taser gun into his groin. Cripes, that must have left a bit of a sting.

Blimey, I did a very big job for them this year, I wonder if the items will be come collectables :D Plans for a massive shake-up in policing in England and Wales are set to be outlined by the home secretary. A new national crime-fighting agency, likely to be dubbed Britain's FBI, is among Theresa May's proposals. People will also be able to vote in two years' time for locally-elected officials to oversee each police force. The Serious Organised Crime Agency, (Soca) is expected to be scrapped just four years after it was set up by Labour. The Home Office consultation paper - Policing in the 21st century - is a radical blueprint designed to make the service more effi…

A GP bit a policeman and had to be restrained with CS gas after she was asked for a breath test, a court was told yesterday. Dr Jane Hornsey, 52, fought with PC Jason Payne at the roadside after losing control of her vehicle and careering into a wall. The respected doctor raged at the stunned officer when he asked her to provide a breath sample, before sinking her teeth into his arm. Dr Hornsey, a mother of two, yesterday admitted assaulting a police officer but will stand trial for drink-driving at a later date. The court was told how the GP was driving home from the gym when she lost control of her car on the evening of October 18 last year. She missed a turning a…

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jul/25/police-software-crime-prediction Two British police forces have begun trials of a sophisticated computer software package which aims to boost their efficiency by predicting where and when future crimes will take place. A brilliant piece of technology, or a human rights issue? I am guessing most crime happens in public areas, if this is the case why not put Officers in public areas instead of being tied up in a officer doing paper work. Then they can scrap the new computers.

I must say, this is highly disturbing. For those who are unfamiliar, after the handgun ban, a disgruntled Mr Philip Luty wrote a book, the purpose of which was to expose how simple it would be to manufacture a sub machine gun from readily available materials including pipes and standard plumbing fittings. More of a political statement than any sort of serious manual, he documented this with photos and published his book. Unsurprisingly, he was arrested and sent to prison for many years for possession of the firearm detailed in his book. Moving on to recently, Phillip and over 50 people across the UK who downloaded his books were raided and arrested. Here's one man's acc…

Conservatives like to present themselves as the party of law and order so it is no surprise that they are sensitive when the unpalatable truth about their record is brought out into the open. http://www.simonfletcher.info/boris-johnson-running-scared/ I cannot stand Ken Livingstone, but now the man is starting to make sense. Maybe he was taking his time over it.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10691052 Sir Denis said £1bn could be saved by changing the way forces and individual officers work. These include: * Changing shift patterns - fior example, more officers currently work on a Monday morning than on a Friday evening, despite weekend nights being the peak periods for violence. -Where are these officers? never seen them. we have double response shifts for weekends and thats it! we have gone from a great shift pattern, to one that sucked for everyone to one that sucks slightly less for everyone. Im assuming they mean the non uniform officers. Well, much as i would like more officers for the weekend, they do actually do a …
