Source Clicky It can be seen to be a good idea, however, what if a passenger throws litter but the driver didn't see who threw it, the driver will be fined because they cannot name the person. Is this fair, if that's the case?

An 18 year old from Peckham has been served with the country’s first ever gang injunction. The order, given at Croydon Magistrates Court on Thursday 25 February, prevents him from: Entering a large area of Peckham. Mixing with more than two other people anywhere in Southwark. Associating with other known gang members in the borough. The year long order also stipulates that he is not allowed to produce, promote or appear in any music video which could encourage violence. On 31 January this year, the Home Office gave local authorities the ability to apply for gang injunctions against an individual who has been involved in gang-related viol…

Armed siege in Norwich continues into ninth hour Police have been talking from an upstairs window of the house next door to someone inside the house. And around 2.55pm a dark-haired woman, believed to be the hostage, emerged into the back garden on the Badger Road house and threw something - possibly a letter - over the wall into the garden next door. Two policemen with armoured shields approached the garden extremely cautiously, picked up the object and returned with it. The situation started at about 9.30am this morning. At least six police cars are at the house in Badger Road, on the Hampdens development near Longwater Lane, and a police helicopter has been circling…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-13277930 An investigation into the use of Taser gun on a man who suffered an epileptic fit has cleared Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers of misconduct. Howard Swarray, 40, was being restrained for lashing out at paramedics after having a seizure at a Manchester gym in November 2009. An Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) probe concluded that officers did not use excessive force. Mr Swarray said he was "appalled" at the way he was dealt with. Police were called to reports of a violent struggle at the Powerhouse gym in Whalley Range. Witnesses described how an apparently disorientated Mr Swarray bit, p…

A policeman's killer has failed in his bid to sue prison authorities over the way they handled a jail switch when they were warned of an escape plan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-13313047 Justice prevails, this fellow will never come to heal, one horrible cretin with no redeeming features.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-13312503 Patients sectioned under the Mental Health Act have won permission to bring a legal challenge over a smoking ban. The patients at Chadwick Lodge Hospital, Milton Keynes, who cannot smoke indoors or outdoors, said the ban infringed their common law rights. Our local MH hospital has a smoking area, which leads to about 2 missing sectioned mental health patients a day. I would love them to ban smoking, or build a larger fence. But thats the end of that hope.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-11997827 A memorial to a murdered policeman in Leeds has been vandalised in the second attack of its type in a month. In the latest incident, someone tried to set fire to a memorial stone marking the place where Pc Ian Broadhurst was shot dead on Boxing Day 2003. Police said the "despicable" attack took place on Sunday night. Two men were arrested in November after a swastika was daubed on a memorial stone in Kirkgate where Sgt John Speed was killed in October 1984. West Yorkshire Police said the two incidents were not believed to be linked. A force spokesman said Pc Broadhurst's memorial was left "blackened" between Sunda…

A prison officer at Feltham Young Offender Institution has been jailed for two years after plotting to smuggle mobile phones hidden inside shampoo bottles into the prison. Mohammed Mirza, 25, of Abbotts Way, Slough, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court on 29 March of conspiracy to traffic mobile phones into prison and misconduct in a public office. His conviction follows a trial which started on 21 March this year. Mid-way through the trial Mirza's co-conspirators, Feltham inmate John Smith, 20, and his mother Sylvia Smith, 57, of Stavely Close, Islington, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic mobile phones into prison and drugs-supply offences. Both were senten…

Swindon driver with 39 penalty points still on road A Swindon motorist has 39 penalty points on his or her licence - the most in Great Britain - but not been banned. A Freedom of Information request to the DVLA showed 638 drivers in Bristol, Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire have 12 or more points. Twelve points usually means a temporary ban for a driver unless they can prove it would cause exceptional hardship. A court decides if a driver is banned and the Magistrates' Association agreed the Swindon case needs investigating. The DVLA's response to the Freedom of Information (FOI), from BBC West, did not say which offences the penalty points related to and g…

Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-13282047 I fully understand their comments and it does seem at odds to make someone retire and then turn round and say 'hey, we need your skills, work for us for free'. I can't think of any other organisation that would do such a thing.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13299606 A terrorist suspect was forced into a praying position and asked "where is your God now?" during arrest at his south London home, a court has heard. Four Metropolitan Police officers allegedly beat up and mocked Babar Ahmad in a raid in Tooting in 2003. The atmosphere was "very intimidating", Mr Ahmad told Southwark Crown Court . Pc Nigel Cowley, 34, Det Con John Donohue, 37, Pc Roderick James-Bowen, 40, and Pc Mark Jones, 43, all deny assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Police smashed their way into Mr Ahmad's semi-detached property in Fountain Road, Tooting, at about 0500 on 2 December 2003. Mr Ahmad, 37, told the court: "…
