Two activists have partially won their case against policing of the G20 protests, as the High Court ruled that police containment was "not justified". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-13077619 We have a dispute here. Police acted lawfully when they detained more than 1,000 people for more than seven hours during a May Day protest, the Court of Appeal has ruled. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7044948.stm I still believe these people come for a rumble, and when they don`t get it all their own way on the streets, turn to the courts. Maybe in future Police will have to leave them to it, allow them to rip London apart, burn any building down where …

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-13150360 Blast bomb thrown at police patrol in Craigavon A blast bomb has been thrown at a police foot patrol in the Meadowbrook area of Craigavon. Police said the officers were on routine patrol at about 1010 BST on Wednesday when the device was thrown. None of the officers - from the PSNI's neighbourhood team - were injured. District Commander, Chief Supt Alasdair Robinson said it was "a mindless attack on police officers just trying to do their jobs. It is by sheer good fortune that one of those officers was not killed or seriously injured," he added. "Earlier this week we launched the policing commitments, our pledge to…

http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/8966077.Probe_into_biker_death_crash_on_A338/ This is a sad case, it appears that the biker saw the speed camera van and lost control after grabbing a fistful of brake.

From BBC News. It irritates me that so many resources are being spent on people that use football as an excuse for violence.

A FORMER motorway policing inspector who has been forced to call time on his career as a serving officer within the force is making a swift return to life back on the beat – but this time as a volunteer! With many years of experience under his policing belt, Simon Westwood was forced to give up his previous post as an inspector with the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) because of a rule which requires officers with 30 or more year's service to retire. http://www.west-midlands.police.uk/latest-news/press-release.asp?id=2175 Cute story, one unique way of staying in the force. BUT, would you be prepared to do it?

Nine people have been arrested and eight police officers hurt after violent clashes in Bristol. Scuffles broke out when police forced their way into a property being used by squatters in the Stokes Croft area. Eyewitnesses said police fought running battles with hundreds of protesters, who dug up cobbles from the road to throw at them. Police carried out the raid because they feared a nearby Tesco store was to be attacked with petrol bombs http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-13167041 WTF is wrong with people!!! I am only 23 but incidents like the above where are people are so comfortable with assaulting Police Officers, really sickens me, why do they think t…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-13098284 A 21-year-old man has been jailed for eight months after admitting endangering a police helicopter by shining a laser pen at the aircraft. Jarome Tomlinson, of Kewlands, Maidstone, shone the light at the Kent and Essex police helicopter on the evening of 24 June 2010. The pilot had to remove his hand from the controls to shield his eyes, Maidstone Crown Court was told. As he tried to fly away from the light, the aircraft was deliberately tracked. Kent Police said the helicopter was carrying out a search mission in Maidstone town centre when the incident took place. Tomlinson was arrested after the crew directed poli…

Link Interesting, Prison Officers are barred from taking industrial action but they are going to ballot for it anyway. If they do it then this might set a precedent. Ken Clarke stating that he will get the army to run the prisons is interesting too, do we have enough soldiers left here in the UK that aren't off fighting wars abroad?

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/guywalters/100080009/the-police-are-right-to-stop-children-picking-daffodils/ The Case of the Dorset Daffodil Pickers is not a story of heavy-handed policing but one of cack-handed journalism. According to every news report this morning, the treatment dished out by Dorset Police to Marc Marengo, 49, Jane Errington, 35, and their daughters India, 10, Olivia, 6, and Sienna, 4, for picking daffodils in Whitecliff Park in Poole is nothing less over-zealous policing, and that the constabulary should have been catching muggers and rapists etc etc. Nice to see not all journalists write up some anti-Police story. WD to Guy Walters Thieving k…
