FIVE Enfield police officers will face a misconduct hearing for alleged use of excessive force when stopping a suspected stolen car. The officers, all formerly of the Enfield Crime Squad, will be hauled before the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards to answer allegations of discreditable conduct. They are accused of using “excessive and disproportionate force†when stopping a car being driven along Meridian Way in Edmonton on June 3, 2008. The incident was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission during an undercover operation by the Met's anti-corruption team into alleged mishandling of property by Enfield officers. Simon Ledger, 34, of Shanklin, said he was playing the Carl Douglas hit at the Driftwood bar, Sandown, on Sunday when the man of Chinese origin took offence. Police said the passer-by claimed he was then "subjected to racial abuse". Mr Ledger was bailed by police and is expected to be questioned later. A BROMLEY police officer has been cleared of trying to take the blame for her fiancé when he was caught speeding. PC Anna Glynn, a former member of the Mottingham and Chislehurst North Safer Neighbourhood Team, and her fiancé Lee Wilton have been found not guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice. Miss Glynn, 29, and plasterer Mr Wilton, 30, who live together in The Dell, Bexley, burst into tears as the jury at Southwark Crown Court returned its verdict.
