The family received only eight visits from officers in 10 years Four officers face misconduct action after police "missed opportunities" to stop youths terrorising a woman who killed herself and her daughter. Fiona Pilkington, 38, and 18-year-old Francecca Hardwick, who was disabled, died in October 2007 when Ms Pilkington set fire to their car. The Independent Police Complaints Commission has found the family should have been identified as "vulnerable". They had complained 33 times to Leicestershire Police about harassment. But acquittals raise new questions about Babar Ahmad case because Met has already paid him £60,000 damages http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jun/03/police-not-guilty-babar-ahmad I see a problem here. First will the £60,000 have to be paid back? Secondly, Why did the MET pay out so readily? Third and probably most importantly, it appears every criminal can put in a complaint about an Officer, but first beat himself up, then gain a whole load of money. This must in future be prevented.

The Emergency Department is besieged by Saturday night drunks. Alcohol is one of the biggest causes of injury seen at King's A&E; on an average weekend half the cases will be alcohol-related. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/24-hours-in-ae/4od#3192251 Intresting programme,i cannot believe how much abuse people from the Emergancy Services take, also the argument between the Nurse and the Police officer, just brings home the scarce avaliabilty of Police officers, and how freely people will assault A&E staff. All in all a real eye opener, you guys in the Emergancy services do a fantastic job!!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-13629679 Very interesting for the two parts that one it was a live bomb (at this point in time) and two that the army were involved in bringing the situation to an end (again, vague on the details at this point, but it sounds like this went beyond merely EOD...).

The police officers selected to accompany the Olympic Torch on its 70-day journey around the country are to be given counselling to ease them back into their jobs once its all over. The 28 officers, hand-picked from the Metropolitan Police to guard the flame and its bearer as they make their way around the UK, are to be seen by a force psychologist to help reintegrate them into their everyday working life. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1393810/Police-guarding-Olympic-torch-offered-psychological-counselling-tour-over.html#ixzz1OEiIbTvA now that seems to me like they're trying to make the police look soft, anyone here really think they'd need counsel…

Special Constables will have to wait a further year before finding out if they can join the Police Federation of England and Wales after a motion proposing the move was deferred. Members at the staff association's annual conference in Bournemouth decided that the proposal should be remitted for 12 months while further research is carried out. As previously reported, the Federation has been considering whether Specials should be able to join after the motion suggesting that the move should be investigated was carried last year. Supporters of the proposal claim that demands on Specials are greater than ever. Some forces, including the Metropolitan Police, have suggested …

Today has seen a national and huge day of action by UK Uncut, and signals a major step forward and an acceleration in the momentum of the protests. Policing in London was very visible and large in number. Police tried to follow protesters but lost them on the London underground, and many police were posted outside the entrances to banks in London. The police policy all over the country seemed to be 'try to prevent occupation where possible - where not possible, stand back and prevent any breach of peace'. There were very few arrests made - so far as I'm aware there were 9 arrests outside Santander in Manchester, and none in the rest of England, Scotland and Wales. (…

Sauce Fair play to her for fighting for compensation. However, I doubt I would receive 100K in similar circumstances.
