Article Eight of the European Convention on Human Rights - guaranteeing the 'right to a family life' - has helped a total of 102 people frustrate the deportation process. Over 100 foreign criminals and illegal immigrants have used the European 'right to a family life' to avoid deportation from the UK in the past year. These include a number of violent criminals and illegal immigrants who had no other right to remain in the country. In one case, a foreign criminal who used Article Eight was a violent thug and drug dealer who beat his girlfriend and failed to pay child maintenance. None claimed they would be in danger of torture or abuse if they were sent back to the…

They are loathed among motorists and the sight of a yellow ticket on your windscreen makes most drivers hate them even more. So you would think the axing of traffic wardens would bring a smile to a few people's faces at least. But in one Welsh seaside town, where the six traffic wardens have been phased out after illegal parking has been decriminalised, the town has come to a standstill and shopkeepers are calling for enforcement. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2001603/Road-rage-chaos-Welsh-seaside-town-council-axes-6-traffic-wardens.html#ixzz1OoSLC2x4 What a mess,it seems strange that they cannot bring in an intrim measure but have to wait a year, until tr…

Police carried out a series of dawn raids this morning against men believed to be involved in the sexual exploitation of teenage girls. Addresses in Longsight, south Manchester, Salford and Clayton were targeted. The operation by Greater Manchester Police follows a three-month investigation involving around 100 detectives. Police say the victims are teenage girls living in the Stockport area. A spokesman said: 'This morning a joint operation by officers from GMP's Major Incident Team and Stockport Division is making a number of arrests in connection with an investigation into organised crime groups. Focusing chiefly on child sexual exploitation, the investigation invol…

Thousands of serious offenders, including killers, paedophiles and rapists, have been let out early only to commit new crimes, on some occasions within hours of release. The number of dangerous criminals being returned to prison has risen five-fold in the past decade. In 2001, 2,457 prisoners who had been released on parole or on licence were hauled back behind bars. But by 2010, that figure had risen to 13,900 – a 466 per cent rise over just nine years. The new figures – which were described as ‘staggering’ by critics last night – emerged as ministers battle to counter allegations that a culture of ‘soft justice’ is developing under the Coalition. In the same pe…

Source: Portsmouth News[/font] The way Special Constables are trained and developed in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is set to change. On Saturday, April 9 2011, the first 30 potential Special Constables are embarking on a new training course called the Gateway Programme. The course is a module-based pre-join course which has to be completed before successful applicants can officially join the force. It has been developed with the University of Portsmouth and is delivered in-house through a mixture of distance learning and some classroom activity at no cost to Special Constables. Project manager Chief Inspector Andy Houghton said: "In the past, successful applicants…

Red Herring? Some of the comments are interesting : ''If the Police have got time to do their shopping when they should be working, then the government is right we need to sacking them, for what use they are we would be better of without the lot of them'' - guess your not allowed to eat on duty ''At least the vehicle is parked neatly. Usually, around here, they drive up onto footpaths and abandon their vehicles.....'One law for them.....one law for the rest of us'!!'' - guess if a crim is running away, they should parallel park or go to the nearest pay and display? and my fav : ''i'm concerned with al these policemen regularly eating fish & chips. are they fit …

Kingston could lose all but one of its front counters at police stations in the borough as the Metropolitan Police look to axe frontline services to save money. http://www.kingstong..._saving_review/ If they close all police stations, then there will be more money saved. Can try using large caravans parked by the side of the road. Whilst all this goes on, i still see very little fight back from the Police. Truckers intend large demonstrations in order to bring country to a halt. London transport intend the same ( http://www.bbc.co.uk...london-13706133 ) as do teachers ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13177658 ) Please lets not go on about this "Safer Neighbourhood " …
