Are Specials in Suffolk able to take their radios home to listen to for training purposes? Obviously with data protection in mind obviously if they were being listened to they would have to be done so when you are on your own.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-12163261 The first month of a knife amnesty has seen 500 weapons handed in across Suffolk. The scheme was begun in December 2010 by Holly Watson, whose brother Lewis, 23, was stabbed to death in Sudbury in 2009. Bins were placed outside police stations in Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds. "I was quite stunned and I think 500 is a high number," said Chief Constable Simon Ash. A 9in (23cm) machete and an ornamental dagger have been dropped into the bins alongside kitchen knives, flick knives and pen knives. Mr Ash said: "We've got to see that in the context that every one of those knives is a potential tragedy preven…

Utility Belt

In Suffolk are officers supplied with a Utility belt and / or a tac vest? I would prefer to use a belt personally as I find it easier to access things however the tac vest is better when you are in the car. What are your thoughts?

Surely they wouldn't just let you loose as a full UK driving licence holder? If so does anybody know how easy it is and how often these courses run in Suffolk? "

Equipment

In Suffolk do they allow you to take any of your equipment home? I.e radio / utility belt? I would love the oppourtunity to take my radio home as it would allow me to listen to how things unfold and how people communicate on them but as they are such an expensive peice of kit I think I know the answer to this already? Also are people issued with the tac vest or utility belt? Look forward to hearing from you.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-11727741 Suffolk police has announced changes to its stations' opening times which it says will save about £350,000. Some smaller stations will be closed for up to four days a week, while other stations like Lowestoft will be open for slightly longer. The force said the changes, from 1 December, would lead to the loss of six-and-a-half full-time jobs. The move will save £3,000 in the first year, £150,000 in the second year and £200,000 in the third year. Until 1 October 2010 the public inquiry desk at Ipswich police station opened from 0730 to 2300 seven days a week, which then changed to opening hours of 0800 to 2000.…
