Humberside Police

Hi guys, I have tonight emailed Humberside Police regarding joining up as a special. I have read the pinned post on Entry Requirements/Steps and am hoping somebody can tell me how flexible the training is? My concern is that I work shifts, so would struggle to attend the same night every week (though it might be possible to beg shift swaps to free up the time). My shift pattern consists of 4 days on, 6 days off, so I will have no problems putting time into being a special, but the initial training could be awkward. Rob

I'm just wondering if any of the most recent applicants had to attend the presentation evening to receive the application form? I've received my letter today asking me to confirm my attendance :-).

Does anyone know if there is a way of claiming back petrol and or bridge toll whilst doing your training? I'm on the August intake but I live in Scunthorpe, and on the rubbish wage I'm on there's no way I can afford £15 petrol a time to attend the sessions! If anyone could help that would be fantastic! Katie.

After going through the application, the vetting, the waiting, the training, the CS exposure, the exam, a bit more waiting, the attestation and then a little more waiting just for good measure... the first night of my very first duty is nearly upon me! Excited but apprehensive but not a clue what to expect... should I expect the unexpected? :new_shades: From past experiences from fellow officers, any tips for the first night?

I have just attended this presentation , it was very informative and they had a great turnout, just waiting for application form to be emailed, which takes upto a fortnight apparently, unless anyone here has one available?
