Just wondering if there is anyone else on here that got through the search assessment and final interview? I'm currently waiting to do my fitness test which is tomorrow and medical which is on the 23rd June. I've also done the e-learning ready for the pre-employment weekend. Is anyone else's application being pushed for start in July? Be great to get to know some people ?

Hello, I passed my AC earlier this month with 61% overall and have my Final/Senior Interview next week. I was just hoping for any advice anyone might have with regards to Essex particularly or maybe just the Final/Senior Interview stage itself. So far, in preparation I have been going over the key competencies, revising my application form and trying to research into the PCC and geographical setup of Essex Police. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated, including what to expect and any direct examples of questions etc. Many thanks in advanced, Joe.

My SID (Specials Induction Day) So yesterday after going through the application process to become a Special for Essex Police, I had my first taste of what the course was going to be like. I had my SID. Specials induction day which apparently is a new part of the course. We were told that the induction day was added due to the amount of work they need to cover. Basically they've done it so we can jump straight into the course on day 1. So as I'm travelling from Southend and had to be at the Essex Police College in Chelmsford for 8 I left a little early. I left mine at 6.30, was there any traffic?? Nope none whatsoever. I turned up at 7 so went for a little breakfast at…

I was wondering what's different and what's not during the recruitment stages. Basically, the regulars are recruiting almost immediately at the time I would be signed off as a special constable. In theory could I therefore apply straight away for the regs? Would I require any further training or testing? Or are there rules that I cannot do this as I've only just been attested the previous month? My home visit was conducted by a recruitment officer, rather than an inspector, and she seemed to be keen for me to apply next year. She was actually the one to inform me that the recruitment was opening up. Does anyone here know of any distinct differences? Thank you

Hello! I've got my SID tomorrow, and wondered if people had done it, what to expect etc. E.g. Would I get uniform, and thus need a large bag? Is it just pen and paper etc Anything so that I can prepare. Thank you

Hi all, I've just attended the Essex specials recruitment evening and wondered if some existing specials could give me some advice. I am planning to start a degree next September at uni plus have two young children and a job (1 day per week). Is it unrealistic for me to try and do this as well? My partner is not on board at all at the moment as he just thinks I will struggle to commit the time needed for everything. Any advice gratefully received. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of applying to Essex as a SC and I have a quick query in regards to the online form itself. There's a text box titled "Description" under the education and employment history sections. How much detail is necessary at this stage? Is this the point where I would be mentioning my roles and responsibilities and why I left or is simply a brief statement? Thank you in advance for any guidance regarding this.

Hi all, Has anyone had their home visit yet? What happened? I've got mine Tuesday, but I'm a tiny bit concerned since my area comes with a slight bad reputation, and there's a strong-smelling use of cannabis every night. Main culprit is a car which parks up on the garages opposite my front door and smokes, the other is a small "gang/group" of girls who smoke it in the neighbouring park. Would this be a reason for failure, or do I have nothing to worry about? Should I just pre-empt myself and phone it into 101? My mother-in-law to be has done this a few times though to no result, so I'm not certain it's useful?

Hello all, thanks in advance for your replies, got a slight issue regarding vetting. I have defaulted accounts. 2 of them. One is relatively recent which I explained on the application form, and the other is around 4 years old - but wasn't due to my own actions. I wasn't aware they were grounds for a failure like IVA's and such were, and as such didn't reflect on my older default on the form. In fact I only mentioned the credit card one because it had to be declared. I've got no CCJ's, no insolvencies or bankruptcy, and no IVA's. My defaulted accounts are; Capital One credit card - defaulted due to an immediate loss of income. I had explained this to them, and the …

I had my Occupational Health test today, I'll start by breaking it down to everyone so that new person know what to expect - but I'll end on some mid-bad news which I want advice on. Start for 1030 so I leave the house at 0900. Arrive at 1015, and begin by answering a short questionnaire stating you're happy for them to conduct tests etc. Start by Auditory test - basically checking you're not deaf. Beeps occur in the left ear, getting louder and changing in frequency - press the button when you hear it, let go when you don't - nice and simple, repeat for the next ear. Next you're taken upstairs, more tests here. 1. Lung Capacity - quite easy. This is the one I was wor…
