Hi, Could anyone enlighten me as to the shift pattern for Bedfordshire Police and any information regarding the day to day operating of the force. I am aware they have prisoner handling teams, however I imagine most cops still carry a workload? Any information would be swell! Cheers.

Hi, I have been successful at the assessment centre and I have been told to fill in a vetting and a medical form. (Bedfordshire force) Now, they have also offered me a Special Constable course dates in either Feb or March. I have opted for the course starting on the 2nd week of Feb. So, the situation is that I still haven't passed the vetting, medical and fitness test. How likely is that this will be organised before the course starts? I was told that vetting itself can take about a month. I want to know because I am trying to organise myself a room for the 2 weeks intensive course in Bedford, as commuting there every day on a motorcycle in winter will be a pain. Any…

I'm considering applying for a Special Constable role, However I have a Hiatus Hernia that is treated by Medication and not severe enough to warrant an operation, but gives me mild asthma like symptoms which are treated with basic inhalers. When I applied for the Army Reserves I discovered that if you have had the operation this automatically rules you out. So I could have applied but due to the asthma like symptoms It causes I would not qualify on a technicality as I am prescribed inhalers every now and again. i.e whenever I have have a curry late at night instead of getting indigestion and heartburn like normal people due to the medication I'm on it makes me co…

Hi I'm thinking of applying to Beds Police as a special and wondered if anyone could give me some info on what a new special working for Beds Police might get up to on an average shift? I'm slightly older at 35 and wondered if this would be a problem?

Well, we may have not arrived on Twitter as first, but we are there now! Starting with today our account is active and is already being used to make our community aware of the work of the Police, who we are and highlight the involvement of Specials in policing, which is far more than policing fairs. So if you are a Twitter user please come and follow us @BedsSpecials https://twitter.com/BedsSpecials

Hi everyone. I am new to this site!! I am interested in finding out some information about the assessment day. I recently applied to become a special for beds police and recieved a letter instantly saying that i had been successfully shortlisted and that they would be in contact soon with a date for my written tests and interview. Has anyone had the same response? and does anyone know how long it takes for beds to get back to you with an assessment day? also any tips from anyone on how to tackle the interview and written tests? Thanks Charlotte

Hello, This may seem silly but I attested as a Special yesterday after a long 20 weeks :new_sweat: and we've been encouraged to do duties in different areas e.g. custody, control room. I've seen on Duty Sheet other people put 'Tutoring with A section', 'Working with C section' etc and wondered what all the different letters represented as I'd like to experience a bit of everything alongside regular patrols and what not. Thanks in advance for any help! :new_clap:

Hi all, First of all this is a cracking site, been very useful and lots of great advice. I have applied to be a Special for Bedfordshire Police and my initial application was successful. I have been invited to the assessment day on Monday and it states that details of the written assessment will be provided on the day. After reading various posts on here it seems most forces send out welcome packs that contain sample questions and details. Has anyone come across this before? Are there any other applicants on here for Bedfordshire Police? Thanks in advance.

I have applied to become a PCSO in Beds force. I have been accepted. They have told me that all they need is the references to come through. The start date is 27 may 2014. I will have to give one months notice to my current employer. Is anyone else is the same situation as myself. Is that how police operate their recruitment. it would be great if someone could let me know pleae.
