Bedfordshire Police

Hi, I applied to be a special last month and still havent heard back but i have read of people getting responses 'instantly'.. is this a bad sign or am i being impatient? Also, my mother, father, two brothers and sister have been in trouble (really bad trouble) with the police, I don't live with any of them but because of their crimes, will it affect my application? I'm actually biting my nails now.. Please Help!! :new_please:

Is anyone else here set to do their fitness test at Kempston today? I was all set, well, am all set, apart from a slight altercation with a couple of very well struck hockey balls on Tuesday resulting in a huge bruise on my arm and a swollen knee! This could be a bit of a painful experience lol. Good luck to anyone who's going to be there.

Afternoon, I'm wondering if any Bedfordshire specials could give me an insight on your shifts. I'm transferring from another force soon and will be going back to Bedfordshire to live and am deciding between BTP and yourselves. What activities do you get up too? In my current force and district we don't do response and we just do general patrolling and crime reporting, do you tend to go out with other specials or regulars? Living in Luton and knowing a fair few people puts me off of returning to do specialing there, how does Bedford operate? What is the tolerance of specials like there, in my force we don't tend to have any issues with being shafted by the higher …

Hi all, I've applied as Special to the Bedfordshire Police at the end Feb 2013, I quickly got a response saying that my application was accepted and that they will get in touch for the Assessment Centre date, when one would become available. For some reason they are the only force that doesn't have a closing date for sending the applications and thus no calendar for any subsequent phase; I have called them to learn more and the answer was that not even the month for the interview has been established. hello this isnt the biggest issue in the world but thought i would check went for my fitting a few days ago all uniform fitted perfectly , just two problems 1. my police jumper was huggggggeeeee mostly around the arms ! i was assured that it needs to be big because of all the uniform that goes on top anybody had the same problems ? 2. the tac vest was luminous yellow! before i get the "its not a fashion show" comments ive got no problems atall with it but would just prefer a black one , if i was to buy a black one of patrol store which is exactly the same but just black would there be a problem ? heres a link for the vest - www.patrolstore.com/Op-Zulu-Advanced-T…

Have got a uniform fitting coming up just wondering as beds and cams have merged what kit do you get issued with ? i know i should just wait and see but existed !

hello I always thought that the training took 11 weeks but having just received my timetable its a lot more than that , how long did it take others ?

Hi Just been reading a thread regarding the use of insignia (General Discussion), one posting suggested that Beds have gone for a regular ranking structure and have also dropped the SC crown. Can anyone advise: 1. Is this correct? 2. What is the rationale behind the decision? Regards Mike

Hello About to start training in march , im not the most academically gifted person in the world so i wanted to get a bit of a head start when it comes to the laws and what not Are there any books anybody could recommend to help me get to grips with all the acts and sections Or any other tips to help me before i start many thanks

I have an odd question (can't help it .............. tried on body armour at fitting: looked a bit manky/old, so the question is... Are these ones used just for trying on and do you get issued with your own personal brand new one? as I can just imagine them getting rather sweaty.....etc. they are not shared are they? ie: on a hanger and you just grab your size for your shift?
