Just thought I'd say 'Hi' on the off chance that you may stick your nose in and to let you know there's a couple of us serving Specials around if you would like to chat, generally or about the training or if there's stuff that you're not sure on. Hope it's going well and may see you soon on our respective stations! Merly

Hi all, new user here, so if I get something wrong I am sorry. I finally decided to join after being an avid reader as I have my assessment centre on the 1st of September. Firstly is anyone serving with Beds at the moment, whats it like, anything I should know about? Secondly I was told I am to expect written tests and an interview. Could anyone elaborate on what this involves, just so I can better prepare myself. I assume the interview will involve the 7 competencies, although I am not sure which ones will come up, except there probably wont be a direct question on communication. Also the written tests might include verbal and numerical reasoning, as well as some kind of…

For anyone who may be interested a documentary, 'Crime Scene Forensics', being shown tonight on BBC1 at 10.35pm features the Beds and Herts Scientific Services demonstrating in apparently 'graphic detail' how this collaborative unit investigates scenes of crime. Will be one for the iplayer for me as it's well past my bedtime! Link to full listing on BedsPol Facebook page.

A real time question and answers session with the CC of Bedfordshire Police, Alf Hitchcock. Always interesting to hear what he has to say.

Always sickening to hear about this, hopefully she will make a full recovery and that the person/s responsible are found quickly.

hey all just like to see what everybody else thinks, about bedfordshire police having a group on facebook, in which the public can highlight problems and seek advice, i personally feel its a great move, and makes the public-police relation a lot more accessible for all ages.. though it of course is not the be all and end all, with the majority of elderly and many others not using facebook, but one again i beleive a step in the right direction with the policing pledge in focus. check it out through this link http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/Bedfordshi...08031310?ref=ts :D

Merlin is away on holiday for a while, and as she's the only one who's ever in here that means it's time to party!!! As long as we clean up before she gets back I'm sure she'll never even notice we were here. Probably. EDIT: On second thought; Just leave the mess, I'm sure Merlin will clean up after us anyway.

Fortunately at the moment there is no trouble of any significance in the county but thought I would post the latest statement from Beds Pol so that we can build a picture of what's happening and where.

A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. We’d like to hear about: • The daftest or most incompetent criminals you’ve ever encountered. • The funniest thing that ever happened to you during your time on the force. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

Hi all, what is with the camera crews accompanying police in and around Bedford recently? Are the mean streets of Bedford to become the next location for a 'Britain's frontline, elite, toughest cops type show'?
