I'm currently in the early stages of thinking about applying to the specials. I've been doing a lot of reading and still have a couple of unanswered questions, that I was hoping someone may know the answers to! Both relate to the release of my medical records. Firstly, I have asthma. This is the least of my two medical worries as it's very well controlled, and has been for a long time. I use a twice daily steroid inhaler and use the blue "rescue" inhaler so infrequently that my previous one went out of date. My most recent review was when I had a chest infection and my peak flow then was still at what would be considered an acceptable level for a well, non-asthmatic. I …

Sorry to be a pain with everyone but moat of you have been past this so I am slightly confused. Ive read other posts on this forum that when they have failed vetting they have been told it's to do with vetting in the headline or post. All mine said was 'With reference to your application to join the Special Constabulary, I have to inform you that unfortunately your application has been refused following a rigid recruitment process.' And it was labeled speical constable application. To me this is something you'd of got from the paper sift. So am I missing something or am I just trying to hold onto false hope, or do they mean this is frim the vetting. Any h…

Sorry to be a pain but does anyone know when the next few dates are for the start of courses. With me missing a date out on my declaration it's really held things up. Of course others have received there fco where as I have to wait a few weeks ad internal checks are being done first. So likely hood of me making Jan or Feb ( not sure which month it was) is really really lookING unlikely. Unless I get a good quick response from both the internal checks and the higher security checks. Although judging by all your long waits on vetting I don't feel confident of a quick response ?

Thought I'd update my next part of my 'experience' after my medical and fitness got postponed last month I finally got to do it today. Leading up to today got nerve racking. I'd not gone out as much as I had hoped and after being away on holiday all week I finally set of in the rain with nerves as shot as they ever have been. To be honest my excitement was not how I wanted it to be due to last night's disturbing news in Paris and today started on a pretty sombre morning. Here goes I arrived at HQ met the other 5 ( 4 of which was girls, so pretty outnumbred) and they went on about the recent failings which didn't help at all as worried ne more. The nerves kicked…

All initial training for the role of Special Constable is carried out at Police HQ in Portishead. The current training programme consists of an induction weekend and ten individual modules which will also be held on weekends every other week. In real time, from the induction day until graduation, you are looking at approximately 23 weeks or slightly longer if your course is in Winter due to Christmas. Three months after graduation, you will attend another weekend, dubbed "module 11", which is effectively a personal development weekend. You will be expected to bring pen and paper to all modules, including the induction. The clothing you wear to the induction is optional …

Can someone help me out here please as I'm a bit stupid at moment. I know regular recruitment as finished for now and ill be pretty bummed if I have missed an opptunity to apply due to my lack of understanding. I know you need a level 3/ a level to apply but I'm stuck on if I have that. Recently for my work as maintenence at the premier Inn o completed my part p full scope ( electrics) but was not sure if it was a level 2 or 3 qualifcaiton as I see different. I was suppose to receive my certificate and I was hoping it would say on there but have not got it yet. Just wondering if anyone in this industry would know.

Hi all, Ive just had the good news today that I have passed all the vetting and medical and assessments etc for Call Handler with Avon & Somerset force, They offered me a start date of 2nd November but there is no way I can do that as I am on 5 weeks notice where I am plus I am on holiday for a week as of this weekend! They have therefore sent me an email to say I am now on the bank and will be contacted when another course comes up but my details will be held for 12 months - all that remains to do is employment references! does anyone here have any idea how often training is done? and what kind of notice they usually give you? - does being on the "Bank" really wo…

Hello everyone, Hope you are all doing well, My runs increasing slightly. Not by much and nothing near any of your standards but I'm getting there. Managed to at least do 0.71 of a mile today, think it's about 1100m odd metres. Heard our bleep test in total is 800 so I'm above at least ( suppose the extra will cover the warm up ) Albeit I done it 6.30 mins and felt like I was doing to pass out but I'm getting there

Are any of you guys planning to get immunised or booked your appointments already? I booked mine today, got my first appointment on 20th...apparently it only takes 15 minutes. Hopefully I'd have completed the full course of injections by time I hit the streets

I have just got my NCALT details through. It looks scary! I am afraid to press "Launch" on anything until I'm told too lol Can we just run wild here or do we need instruction first? For example there are driver theory tests and all kinds of stuff but I'm not sure what we are and aren't supposed to press. I thought Network 5 was too easy...this must be where the real training is at lol
