Lots of Piracy in the area, and hijacks are nothing new and hardly make the news now, this one's a bit different though as it's a Danish Weapons Ship that was boarded... .............................................................. In what represents a major departure from Somali pirates' usual modus operandi, the six seafarers have been snatched and moved to a seized Taiwanese fishing vessel which is operating as a morthership. It had been hoped that a search of the 1,780-dwt Leopard (built 1989) by members of the Turkish Navy would turn up the two Danes and four Filipinos who had hid in a citadel when they came under attack west of the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday a…

"not another!", you're probably thinking to yourselves, after "Flouting the law on TV" etc. Do you think that Seat Belts should be fitted and used in Public Bus Services? We are talking about public routes solely, not private hire etc. Currently, some bus companies have them fitted, and they don't tend to be used, and certian official bodies insist that they are fitted for contracted school bus routes. Should they be fitted and used for bus routes open to the general public? Feel free to post your views below.

Honestly, what is this World coming too. Somebody at British Red Cross needs to get out more!! A Glasgow theatre has had to change a pantomime costume after being told it was breaking the Geneva Convention. The dress worn by Nurse Poltis in the Pavilion Theatre production of Robin Hood originally had red crosses on the hat and tunic. These were changed to green crosses after the British Red Cross informed the theatre it was breaking the law and could face prosecution. Unauthorised use of the emblem violates the Geneva Conventions Act 1957. The British Red Cross said it had contacted the Pavilion Theatre over the use of a red cross on a nurse's costume in the panto…

Funny how we only hear about this from the FSA and the supermarkets now that we have already eaten most of it isn't it? At a time like this I am even more pleased to have my own chickens that are not fed on feed contaminated with bio-fuel, and if it's OK with you Mr FSA man and Mr Tesco I shall decide what is safe to eat - not you thank you very much."]

Witches threaten Romanian taxman after new labour law Self-declared witches in Romania are preparing to curse the country's rulers publicly for taxing their profession under an amended labour law. Poisonous mandrake plants are due to be hurled into the River Danube and queen witch Bratara Buzea has devised a spell involving cat dung and a dead dog. Income tax of 16% and health and pension payments have been imposed. It was not immediately clear how car valets and driving instructors, also taxed for the first time, would react. Their professions, along with those of witch, astrologer, fortune teller and embalmer, were not listed in the previous labour…

A CROYDON MSC officer made her first arrest on her first ever patrol when she went out with a group of Specials on Friday 4 June 2010 as part of Operation Safe for All in Croydon Town Centre. The officers carried out a proactive stop on a vehicle due to suspicious behavior by the driver. As a result of the stop, Special Constable Rob Cope, who was performing only his eleventh patrol as a Special arrested a man on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply. A section 18 search was subsequently carried out by the Specials and this resulted in Special Constable Katherine Allen making her first arrest on her first tour of duty, by arresting a woman on suspic…

I won't quote the whole article as it's relatively irrelevant to the bit I wanted to highlight: Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk...-wales-12112316 Since when have there been internationally recognised signs such as that described above? I can't see anything in the Highway Code that resembles that. I've found a couple of examples from the online highway code but they don't look like anything this could be. The closest I can find is the one for a "high occupancy lane" but again, technically, the image shown isn't a prohibition sign. Whilst drivers shouldn't rely on sat-navs (particularly LGVs), if councils don't put up the right roadsigns, this sort of thing is goin…

Specialist officers tackle Ford open prison riots Specialist prison guards in body armour have been tackling rioting inmates at an open jail in West Sussex. Around 40 prisoners began smashing windows and setting fires at two wings of HMP Ford at around midnight. Firefighters were also sent to the scene, although the Prison Service said they have now left. A spokesman said that one of the wings was brought back under control by 1040 GMT and 140 extra staff had been sent to assist at the scene. Prison service staff were forced to retreat when the riots first broke out but there have been no reports of any injuries to staff or inmates. Officers have formed a cordon …
