Hi guys, I'm very interested in a career with South Wales Police. I would like to be a PCSO and then possibly transfer to a police constable after a few years. I recently visited the South Wales Police station in Neath to ask some questions to officers regarding the recruitment of PCSOs. When I asked about what the requirements were, I was told there are no academic qualifications required however they do go in your favour. Also to learn the welsh language would be a great benefit to be able to converse with the public from all over South Wales. I was also told that a PCSO needs life skills and was advised to get involved in PACT meetings and voluntary community work …

Hi all, Does anyone know what the BMI standards are for Derbyshire PCSO's? Also what is involved with the medical? I have got my medical in 6 weeks, but I am nervous about it. I got to the medical stage for West Mids specials a couple of years ago but failed as my BMI was too high. Since then I have lost weight, but I was wondering what else is involved in the medical? Many thanks for your help! Craig

Hi, currently going through the process of application to become a police community support and traffic officer for Merseyside police I passed the initial competency based questions on my application form and have now been invited to an interview I have done some research and the questions seem to be about what you would do or have done in certain situations? if I was to pass the interview the next stage would then be post assessment panel what does this involve numeracy/literacy based questions? and role play ? Hi All, I wonder if any one can help me please. I have been offered an interview for the post of PCSO which is great. The only problem is that I cannot find how to access the application form that I filled in on line! It would be useful if I could have a copy of it for the interview. Does any one know who I should contact or if I can retrieve it on my lap top please? Thanks X

I've been researching PCSOs ever since David Cameron went back on his promise to increase the police force by 20,000. In fact doing the exact opposite. Since the only thing forces are now hiring is PCSOs I've been looking at them. Though their job is far less than a real officer and they are limit in their powers. One thing struck me, they get paid 21,000 a year. From my understanding, thats close to a normal PCs pay. If PSCOs are being paid so much, it makes me think. Is it a full time job or part time?

Hi guys, i'm new to the forum here and have always had the life-long goal of joining the police force. I have just graduated from university and was presented with a great opportunity to join South Yorkshire police as a PCSO. As the title says, I have passed the PCSO assessment centre, and I am wondering does this mean that I, assuming I pass the medical and vetting (which I should with ease) I have the job? I am sending my medical forms off tommorrow including my eye test and am awaiting a drug test date and vetting details. Overall I got 60% Respect for Race and Diversity 73% Oral Communication 100% Written Communication 67% So I think I did okay, but if lots of p…
