http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/news/9950105.Review_of_Wiltshire_deputy_chief_constable_s_suicide_calls_for_whistle_blowing_policy/ It seems that it is not only the lower ranks that need vetting. Looks as if the ex Chief Constable left a lot to be desired, I hope he does better at the Border Agency.

Just by accident when flicking through the channels l came across this prog. l watched it because the station is in my city of Hull. What got me most was the mentality (lack of) of the people arrested. They seem to think that if they explain themselves at the desk they'll be unarrested and set free. They just can't shut up. My uncle (now retired from the force) hammered into me at an early age that if l was arrested for anything that l should keep quiet and wait for a solicitor. Happily l've never needed his advice but would still heed it if it became necessary.

A police decision to retain photographs of two suspects who were never charged has been declared a breach of human rights in a landmark High Court ruling. Two judges ruled as "unlawful" the Metropolitan Police policy on custody photographs. The policy is based on the home secretary's code of practice on the management of police information and related guidance. The ruling was won by two applicants aged 15 and 60. They have been referred to as referred to as RMC and FJ. RMC is a 60-year-woman from Chelsea, who was arrested five years ago on suspicion of assault and had DNA samples, fingerprints and photographs taken. The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to charge he…

The terrible deaths that make us ask: should women serve on the frontline? The shootings in Manchester – and a baby born in Helmand – have revived the debate over women's role in the services A police officer guards the scene where two of her female coleagues were killed near Manchester. Photograph: Darren Staples/Reuters Two young women were killed by a violent man this week. To read that sentence before the tragic deaths of PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes in Greater Manchester last week, one might have made an assumption about the circumstances. One might have thought they were nurses, attacked by a frenzied patient, or the victims of a fatal domestic dispute. N…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2202221/Police-squirt-pava-spray-father-hit-baton-peaceful-protest-Tesco-faulty-TV.html#comments On a serious note, the bad advertising for Tesco's is going to cost them more than £599.00. It also appeared a bit OTT from the boys & girls in blue. Pava and Baton strikes might be "approved techniques" but again it doesn't read well and it doesn't look pretty. I think a word in Tesco's managements ear and a new TV would have been better all round.

Possible one of those taken in to get the quota insisted on by the Home Office. A complete disgrace to the uniform and position of Police Constable.
