This is the moment a car reverses into a police vehicle during a dramatic chase through narrow country lanes in Kent. Dash-cam footage shows the black Ford Mondeo racing ahead of a police car which pursues it with sirens blazing. The Mondeo comes to a sudden stop, before reversing and smashing into the police car as an officer exclaims: “he’s going to ram us, he’s going to ram us”. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/dramatic-moment-car-reverses-into-police-vehicle-during-chase-down-narrow-country-lanes-a3766121.html

Good Afternoon, I am wondering if anyone here will be able to answer a question I have regarding Leicestershire Police shift patterns. What is the current response shift pattern for PCs. I have heard that it used to be 222 (2x Early, 2x Late, 2x Night then 4 off) Is anyone able to clarify what pattern response work at present? Thinking of joining, and am used to shifts, but have heard some get messed around with tidal rotating patterns, or 7 shift blocks. 6 on 4 off works for most! Many Thanks in advance for your help.

A major shake-up of the way London is policed was announced today as the Met warned that its officer numbers will drop to 30,000 within two months. The main change will see the current 32 borough commands — under which each area has its own police team — merged into 12 larger units covering up two or three boroughs each. Scotland Yard says the reform will save management costs, remove inefficiencies and allow more officers to be deployed with young people to tackle problems such as knife crime. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/major-met-police-shakeup-as-officer-numbers-to-fall-to-30000-a3764266.html

Bobbies on the beat accounted for one in seven axed police posts over the past five years, analysis suggests. At the same time, one in three police community support officer (PCSO) posts - originally intended to be the "eyes and ears" of the community - have gone. Critics say a visible police presence in communities deters criminals and helps gather intelligence. The Home Office said "overall traditional crime" had fallen by almost 40% since 2010. The BBC's Shared Data Unit compared workforce figures for 43 police forces in England and Wales, Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Police Scotland over a five-year period from 2012 to 2017. A banker dressed in an old police uniform and rode an ex-police motorbike on his commute to work as drivers made way for him. Darren Emanuel, 46, wore a former police hi-visibility jacket and used the bike on dozens of occasions during his 60-mile round trip to and from work. But he was pulled over by police, who accused him of “undermining confidence” in the emergency services just weeks after a terror attack at London Bridge. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/banker-rode-expolice-motorbike-bike-and-dressed-in-uniform-during-commute-to-london-a3761921.html
