London police are ditching guidelines to automatically believe sexual assault complaints, the Met Police Commissioner has said. A police chief has said he is "not confident" a specialist unit could respond quickly to a terror attack. The East Midlands Operational Support Service (EMOpSS) pools resources from across Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. The BBC understands that an internal review, carried out by Nottinghamshire Police, said EMOpSS is costly and "fundamentally flawed". Police officers who wear body cameras have Tasered fewer suspects in West Yorkshire, a senior chief has said as figures show a drop in discharges. Assistant Chief Constable Andy Battle said people "modify their behaviour" when cameras are switched on, leading to 27% fewer Taser incidents in 2017. In 2016 West Yorkshire Police introduced body-worn video (BWV), which is used by forces across the UK. ACC Battle said officers used "less force" but they will still use Tasers. View Full Story

Full Story I think this has very serious ramifications for freedom of speech/expression. In the video in question he made it very clear from the outset that this was to annoy his girlfriend and is a joke. In this case the prosecution argued that context and intent are irrelevant and the sheriff agreed, if we are to disregard those in future then surely every journalist and most comedians are going to be dragged to court then. Imagine if John Cleese had been dragged through the court for the Hitler impression in Fawlty Towers or Dermot Morgan for the episode "Are You Right There Father Ted?".
