Earlier today there as a post from Captain Gatso (Motorists Against Detection) on the Pistonheads website exposing a senior police officer no stranger to controversy. Speed, the Plod and the Law carried an exposé regarding Richard Brundstrom, playing away from home on a yacht in Conway Marina, with a lady friend - not his wife! The information came from a senior Met officer apparently, who found out from his N.Wales opposite number at a Vehicle Crime Conference! If this story is so well known in the job, then it is surprising nobody has had a quiet word with Richard about his future. This is just the latest in a long line of scandals to hit the beleaguered…

Squatters are being given advice on how to break into empty properties and set up home without paying rent, in a council-recommended handbook. The Squatters Handbook is available for £2 from the service's website The £2 booklet, issued by the Advisory Service for Squatters, gives tips on removing locks, and suggests that those caught breaking in to a property should claim they are “clearing drainsâ€. In a section on legal advice, squatters are told to put a notice on the door warning it is a criminal offence to evict the new residents, and to threaten any homeowner who objects with the words: “You may receive a sentence of up to six months’ imprisonment.†…

Middle classes losing faith in 'rude' police who go for soft targets instead of the real criminals The middle classes have lost confidence in the police, a stark report has warned. They fear they have been alienated by a service which routinely targets ordinary people rather than serious criminals, simply to fill Government crime quotas. The attitude of some officers has also led to spiralling complaints about neglect of duty and rudeness. The report from the Civitas think-tank says incidents which would once have been ignored are now treated as crimes - including a case of children chalking a pavement. Its author, respected journalist Harriet Sergeant, says she w…

A policeman was held through a car window, dragged along a road and assaulted, police said. The officer was carrying out a routine check in Derby at about 7pm on Friday when he stopped a silver Seat Leon with three men inside. The car then sped off while the policeman was held through the window and dragged along Osmaston Road in the city, near to the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: "Whilst officers were conducting a routine check on the three male occupants the vehicle was driven away at speed with a police officer being held and assaulted through the front nearside passenger window. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime...ign-836175.html -- Is this really going to have any effect on knife crime? It would appear to be another initiative short of what id actually wanted in this country, zero tolerance against anyone who carries / uses a knife. Time will tell whether this has any effect or not, but I'm betting for the latter.

The PSCOs were attacked after responding to reports of a fight in Radford Park. Nine people have been arrested and released on police bail until August. Devon and Cornwall Police said when other officers arrived, they had to use incapacitating spray and batons to break up the mob. Litter wardens in a Cambridgeshire city are only being paid if they hand out fines, it has been revealed. A Peterborough City Council scheme has been branded "outrageous and completely unjust" by the Taxpayers' Alliance. The group claimed it was an "excuse to raise funds rather than a way to discourage littering". But a council spokesman said: "Their objective is to stop people dropping litter and to make them aware of the consequences if they do so." Instead of being paid a salary, the four "environmental warden" posts in Peterborough operate on a commission basis of £35 per ticket, with no lower or higher limit on their earnings. The council spokesman accepted …

A mother told today how she shopped her two sons to the police for a vicious assault that left a father blind in one eye. Carol Saldinack, 51, said she had no regrets despite becoming an outcast from her family, after sending sons Luke Newman, 27, and Oliver Clark, 24, to jail. The pair, along with a third man, Benjamin Hammond, 25, were jailed for two years at Chichester Crown Court last week for grievous bodily harm. Luke Newman, 27, (left) and Oliver Clark, 24, (right) were jailed for a violent attack which left their victim blind in one eye The Daily Mirror said that in June last year they launched an unprovoked attack on father-of-two Marc Parkinson, 36, outsid…
