I am sure i speak for all on UKPO, in wishing this Officer a speedy recovery.

Stop-and-search powers ruled illegal by European court The use by police of terror laws to stop and search people without grounds for suspicion are illegal, the European Court of Human Rights has ruled. The Strasbourg court has been hearing a case involving two protesters stopped near an arms fair in London in 2003. It said Kevin Gillan and Pennie Quinton's right to respect for a private and family life had been violated. It awarded them 33,850 euros (£30,400) in compensation. Amersham biker Michael Henry wins damages ove Thames Valley Police injury POLICE have been told to pay damages and costs to a man whose foot was run over by a squad car after a high speed pursuit. The Court of Appeal today found Thames Valley Police were negligent in the incident which left Michael Henry, of Penn Street, Amersham, with foot and ankle injuries. It said Mr Henry should recover 40 per cent of any damages and legal costs. Police in Portsmouth have been delighted to receive two high powered vehicles to assist in getting around the city in the wintry conditions we have seen this week, thanks to Guy Salmon Land Rover Portsmouth. PC Alan Hockley was tasked with securing additional vehicles for use in the snow and ice, and after liaising with colleagues in the Ministry of Defence police, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Navy, he had the idea to approach the Land Rover dealership in North Harbour. Two 17-year-old boys have been ordered to do 100 hours community service for stamping a young deer to death in Dorset "for a laugh". They pair were found guilty at Poole Youth Court in December of killing the fawn in Upton Country Park in June. The teenagers were cleared of beating a wild mammal with intent to inflict unnecessary suffering. A 16-year-old boy was cleared of both charges. Animal campaigners outside the court called the sentence "pathetic". Gwent Police Recruit Primary Children14-Jan-10 Uniformed 'Mini PCSO's' patrol school surrounds... The children, who have all been provided with their own miniature PCSO uniforms, will help police patrol outside the school to make sure children get to and from school safely. Police hope the scheme will educate both parents and pupils of the dangers of irresponsible parking and driving at excessive speeds outside the school.
