http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-10920062 A man was killed by a train in north London moments after running from a car that was being chased by police. The victim, thought to be 20, was hit on the tracks near Enfield Lock level crossing, Enfield, just after 1730 BST. A short time earlier officers had been following a car which stopped at the crossing where the barriers were down, and three men got out, police said. Am I the only person who thinks its a Society Win, and another chav bites the dust?

Souce: http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/8333095.Sussex_Police_officers_with_second_jobs/Police officers are increasingly turning to second jobs as florists, IT consultants and delivery drivers to bolster their income. In figures released to The Argus, more than 30 officers with Sussex Police applied for permission to moonlight in other professions in the last 12 months. Since August 2009, requests have been made to become a boxerciser instructor, a school governor and to sell hand-made tie pins and cufflinks. A police constable in February was granted permission to assist his wife in her puppet business. One police sergeant even had to get permission to sell butto…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-11000508 A suspected copper thief is in hospital with serious burns after he was injured while apparently trying to cut electrical cables in Leeds with a saw. I feel for him, bless him, will he now want compensation? "Police said no arrests had been made and inquiries were continuing. Witnesses have been urged to contact Mr Partis at Weetwood police station." not sure who is running the investigation, but, now i`m no Police officer or judge, BUT arrest the bloke with the burns all over him.

From the sound of it there was nothing the officers could have done, not something I'd ever want to go through, though. No doubt there will be an enquiry in due course. Perky Sorry, source is BBC news.Perky

A man who stole £110,000 in benefits by claiming his dead mother was still alive was jailed for two years on Friday (13). Former bus driver Gordon Jeeves, 50, of Cremorne Estate, Chelsea, even persuaded a woman to pretend to be his mother, even though she died in 2001, and applied for a number of different benefits. But at Isleworth Crown Court, Jeeves admitted theft of benefits totalling £111,000, including housing benefit and council tax benefit. Sentencing him, Judge Dennis said: " The aggravating factors in this case are that you didn't lead a frugal life on the proceeds of this crime, but decided to go on a series of exo…

The Suffolk force said the scheme would give ex-offenders a means of transport so they can go out to find jobs. "They will be on loan from the probation service to the PPO who will be responsible for their own cycle safety. "This is a well-intended scheme and a holistic approach to assist individuals who, for whatever reason, have been on the wrong side of the law gain meaningful emplo…

Four police officers will face prosecution over an alleged attack on a terror suspect, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said. Babar Ahmad, 36, an IT worker, alleged he was beaten and verbally abused when arrested in Tooting on 2 December 2003. Mr Ahmad, who was not charged following the raid, was awarded £60,000 damages last March by the Metropolitan Police. Simon Clements, from the CPS, said there was "sufficient evidence" to charge four of the officers. Constables Nigel Cowley, John Donohue, Roderick James-Bowen and Mark Jones will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on 22 September. The officers accused of the attack, in south west London, bel…
