Fiona Pilkington's family to sue police and councils A jury inquest said the response of the police and the two councils 'contributed' to the deaths The family of a Leicestershire woman who killed herself and her disabled daughter after suffering years of abuse from local youths is to sue the police. Fiona Pilkington, 38, drove herself and 18-year-old Francecca to a lay-by and set fire to the car in October 2007. An inquest jury found the family's cries for help had been ignored. Child sex traffickers who were jailed for this week were snared after eagle-eyed staff at Knightsbridge hotel handed an incriminating note to police. The four-person gang tried to sell six girls aged between 14-20 to a policeman at the Lancaster London Hotel in Lancaster Terrace after the Met had earlier received a tip-off from staff at another hotel, the Jumeirah Carlton in Knightsbridge. A member of the traffickers, Fatima Hagnegat, 24, had addressed a note to the Carlton's innocent owner under the pseudonym, Mary, which boasted of being able to provide children for sex and that he should call the mobile number provided in th…

http://www.telegraph...-seriously.html Police must take reports of loutish behaviour more seriously or face official complaints, Theresa May will say today. 10% of Officers working on the street? Only a third of Officers work on crime? Did Theresa may make any sense in her speech today? Here is some of what she said..... 13.07 She concludes her speech: "We will being net migration down to the tens of thousands. We will crack down on extremists. We will turn police into crime fighters. And together in the national interest, we will succeed." 13.06 The Home Secretary promises to stand up to extremists and their "bigoted ideology". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-11510790 The number of drivers caught ignoring seatbelt or mobile phone laws in Derby in one day was "alarming", according to police. Twenty-one drivers were given fixed penalty notices for failing to wear a seatbelt and 47 were given a verbal warning for the same offence. A further 14 were given fixed penalty notices or verbal warnings for driving while using mobile phones. Filmmaker Navdeep Singh Kandola speaks to members of the Muslim and Sikh communities in advance of an English Defence League demonstration this weekend http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/video/2010/aug/27/bradford-english-defence-league I dont think any sane person would disagree with the fact that the EDL are going to Bradford to cause trouble and to provoke riots such as those in 2001,i am assuming there will be a large number officers at the demonstration who dealt with the riots in 2001, hopefully non of you guys will experience that again, and i really hope that Asian youths do not fall into the EDLs trap of trying to provoke a riot.

http://www.express.c...r-sex-fanatics# COUPLES indulging in casual outdoor sex must be protected under new "hate crime" guidance issued to police. When our dear Officers find they have nothing better to do, and at the same moment you feel that Doggers have more right to protection then the people who are law abiding, then prey do go out (maybe in your off duty time) and protect these people. I would have thought that most of us should be allowed to go about our business without having to put up with this activity called Dogging. Is it me or does the law seem to side with those who are not law abiding?

I was one of the five (although there was only 4) who ‘dashed’ to the scene. That’s not the only ‘inaccuracy’, after reading this story, I’m not even sure it was the same one...Was lovely to meet Katie though. source

Intelligence agencies have intercepted a terror plot to launch Mumbai-style attacks on Britain and other European countries, according to Sky News sources. Sky's foreign affairs editor Tim Marshall said militants based in Pakistan were planning simultaneous strikes on London and major cities in France and Germany. He said the plan was in the advanced but not imminent stage and the plotters had been tracked by spy agencies "for some time". Intelligence sources told Sky the planned attacks would have been similar to the commando-style raids carried out in Mumbai. Then, Pakistan-based Islamist group Lashkar e Taiba killed 166 people in a series of gun and grenade attacks…

Police officer beaten to the ground by youths I was surprised to see that the officer was back on the beat very soon after. Given that conditions like concussion sometime manifest themselves a while after the event, I would have thought some time doing 'light duties' would be the order of the day.
