Three Lincolnshire police officers and a civilian worker resigned during an investigation into allegations of misconduct, it has emerged. Two of the police officers were arrested in connection with allegations relating to "property found in their possession", said Supt Paula Wood. The four, who worked at Louth police station, have all left the force since their suspension on 25 August. A file has been forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service. The two arrested officers remain on police bail. In a statement, the force said it expected high standards of discipline and conduct from all of its officers. Source: BBC News

The director of operations of the firm which supplied the Tasers used during the stand-off with gunman Raoul Moat is understood to have killed himself. Former police officer Peter Boatman, of the Daventry firm Pro-Tect, was found dead on Friday morning, his business partner said. Earlier this week it emerged supplier Pro-Tect breached its licence by supplying X12 Tasers direct to police. The Home Office confirmed the firm had had its licence revoked. Mr Boatman's business partner, Kevin Coles, told BBC News that Mr Boatman had been found dead. A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said officers were called to an address in Kingsthorpe just before 1310 BST where t…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-11436307 A woman and her newborn baby are back at home after she gave birth in the back of a police car in Staffordshire. Carla Smith went into labour at about 0700 BST on Tuesday. Her partner Duncan Muckle, 27, had left for work but turned back to drive her to hospital. The pair then got stuck in traffic in Tixall Road, Stafford. He managed to flag down a passing police car to get Ms Smith to hospital on blue lights. As she got in the squad car a paramedic arrived and delivered the baby boy. The new baby, who has been called Robert Michael, is Ms Smith's fourth ch…

A businesswoman has lost her life savings in a 15-month battle to evict a squatter from her home. Dy Maurice, 50, rented out her mews home when she moved to Dublin to run a beauty salon, but while she was out of the UK the tenant secretly sublet the property to another man who then refused to pay rent. Unlike a certain poster, this is not to troll. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8038086/Police-offered-right-to-strike.html Unlike the Daily Mail, The Telegraph report it is the Home Secretary offering the police full industrial rights, not a demand from the police. How the DM can get away with the headline, I've no idea. From a personal point, I don't believe we should be given any sort of industrial rights. Strike action by the police would be the beginning of the road into anarchy. I can't even believe that this would even be offered by the government. The first work to rule or strike action by the police would bring this government to its knees.…

A robber who targeted several west London bookmakers in a terrifying six-day spree has been jailed. In May, we reported how staff at William Hill branches in Fulham had been left fearing for their lives after a man, now known to be Simon Barnard of Burnfoot Avenue, Fulham, raided the shops and demanded money, pretending he had a gun. He struck eight times in under a week. Between May 8 and May 14, Barnard, 31, robbed Hills branches in Munster Road, Dawes Road (twice), North End Road (twice), Lillie Road, a Ladbrokes in Gloucester Road and a Paddy Power outlet in Kings Road. Barnard approached cashiers with a plastic bag over his arm and handed staff a note say…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11440985 And the paper: http://www.mpa.gov.uk/committees/mpa/2010/100930/07/ As far as numbers go don't think there’s much that wasn't trailed some months ago, although that paper on the MPA site was taken down, other than I note a subtle change from 90% recruitment through the specials to "the majority", though it does seem a much longer tome. It seems to suggest that PCSO will get in-house training to gain the "recognised qualification in law and policing" possible bursaries for outsiders. I understand the Met may be slightly different (I’ve always thought they were a lot different!) in that they’re going to recruit quite a few ext…

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/PCSOs-cost-taxpayers-78-million.6558813.jp Police community support officers solved 50 crimes last year - but cost the taxpayer £7.8m in wages.Hampshire Constabulary's 334 PCSOs - whose salaries averaged £23,353 - handed out 122 in fines according to figures. This equates to an average £156,000 per crime solved in which the detecting officer is named as a PCSO. It comes after Chief Constable Alex Marshall warned up to 1,400 police officers and staff - a fifth of the workforce - could be axed as the force battles to save up to £70m in the next four years. Chief constable Marshall has already refused to accept a £22,500 bonus. …

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-11441702 Police are negotiating with a man standing on railings on a bridge after being called more than 24 hours ago. Police went to a bridge above Paradise Circus, near Birmingham's central library, about 1555 BST on Wednesday. Police said they had no idea how long it could be before they could bring the situation to a conclusion. Chf Insp Sean Russell said: "The man is an extremely vulnerable location and state of mind and it is everyone's interest to try to talk him down." There have been long delays for drivers on all approaches to the Paradise Circus junction. …
