Are Norfolk going to hold the Police Gala day this year? I cant find any info on the web site and having missed it for two years, I would like to attnd if its on this year. They are a great day out with a lot going on and it shows the force in a good light. I started my service with Norfolk at King Lynn and had a great time working with a great team.

Police monitored the party in a boarded up holiday home at Two Mile Bottom, near Thetford, from the early hours. They turned away a number of people who had been trying to get to the secluded site in an area of forest land. At the height of Saturday's event there were believed to have been about 150 people attending, police said. "No complaints were made in relation to noise nuisance and the nearest dwelling was around half a mile away," Supt Nick Davison said. "…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-12128380 Police officers in Norfolk are to get lessons in good manners to help improve their relationship with the public. Officers and staff will be shown a DVD which includes tips and advice on how to engage with people face-to-face, on the telephone and by email. The Norfolk force worked with retailer John Lewis to understand how they train their staff in customer service, and the advice is captured in the DVD. The film is presented by The Bill actor Graham Cole who played PC Tony Stamp. In one comedy sketch, Cole's character is seen telling a member of the public she "needed to get out more" while desc…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-11848723 Thieves have broken into a police building in Suffolk and made off with bikes belonging to officers. Two men took four bicycles from the station on High Street, Brandon, between 0340 BST and 0350 BST on Thursday. The men cycled off with a bike each before returning to walk off with the remaining two. Sgt Chris Chisnall said officers would continue their work on foot or using "alternative modes of transport". The bikes had been donated to the police to allow them to access areas such as Thetford forest. Sgt Chisnall, of the Brandon safer neighbourhood team, said: "Three of these bikes were generously donated by pa…

I got recommended for service back in August and like most people was told that my start date would be feb then march then april and then the summer 2010. However I recieved an email last Thursday saying that they are now introducing a Diploma in Police and Public Safety and although I dont have to do it, If I dont then they cant give me a start date, plus I have to pay for the privelage doing the course!!!! Has anyone else recieved this letter and are you going to do it? Does anyone think this is a bit of a joke to retrospectively apply a new criteria for entry in order to obtain service within the force. Its made worse as I dont live within Norfolk so I reckon its …
