Do we have any currently serving or recently retired Durham cops on here that would be willing to chat via PM? I'm currently in a South force and my wife and I are considering a move up north for a better quality of life and lower living expenses. Im keen to find out what the response team shift pattern is like, what sort of workload is carried, the technology the force uses to make the response roll smooth. Thanks!

Hi All, Recently joined the community and have found a lot of the topics really insightful. I've just put my application into Durham so waiting to hear back on the paper sift. Feeling pretty confident, I used to be RAF a Police so had plenty of scenarios to illustrate the core competencies and relevant experience. Now just the agonising wait, should be used to that from my military days, "standing by to stand by" Looks like Durham were looking for 800 applications, this seems a lot for such a small force, could this suggest people aren't attracted to the force? Can anyone tell me anything about Durham? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Police Community

Hi Im sorry this is my first post but im in desperate need of help. Ive applied and been successful for the Specials in Durham. Ive been told today that I have failed vetting. I have a caution for assault which goes back to December 2009. I declared this on the form and have been completely honest with it. I didn't put the charge on the form as I couldn't remember what it was, I can only assume it was ABH as no further action was taken. Like I said I declaied this on the form, I passed the assessment day, interview, had my uniform fitting the lot! I sent my vetting form back and when filling it in, my police officer mate was sat with me and I asked what a PND was, he…

Hi all, I have recently been offered the post of a Police Constable with Durham Constabulary, subject to medical and vetting etc. As I have never worked in Durham before (only Northumbria as a special) I was wondering if anyone could give me any more information regarding a few things. First of all, Training. Im basically just after how long initial training is before going on the street paired up with another officer. (Classroom based training). Also, where is this located? Second, to what extent can you choose an area. Is it a case of you list your top 5 preferences and they try to adapt that to the force needs where possible? Any finally, I am led to believe I may b…

Hi, I recently passed the assessment centre and I was wondering what scores other people have had in the past? I know that there is a baseline of a 50% passmark, but I was interested as to what people tend to get. Thanks in advance.

Hello all. Posted few times previously but with regards to Cleveland police rather than Durham. Can anybody tell me the working conditions for Durham police: What shift pattern do they work? What is the starting wage? Wage when competent? What is the job like in general working for Durham? Regards.
