Mornin' all, New here, first post Just wondering if any others here are awaiting news from Durham's latest special recruitment drive? Also wondering if any of you fine upstanding gentle folk know roughly how long those exceptional guys/girls in HR normally take to complete paper-sift and advise candidates if they are successful to move onto assessment stage? Look forward to hearing from anyone and thanks in advance

I'm just wondering what sort of work specials do for Durham ie, do you work with neighbour hood teams or response? Just out of interest.

Hi all I came across this post (see attached image) on twitter whilst browsing for SC related tweets...I think the author may be on this forum? Anyway, am I reading it right? I.e will the SC role be expanded within Durham to provide support to the Dog Support Unit as is the case with roads policing? I'm looking to apply at the next intake (question 2: any ideas when this is likely to be?) as I wasn't ready back in November, and this would be something I would absolutely love to work towards if I were to be accepted into the force.

Bluelight Info Tweet suggests the window for SC recruitment opens this Friday morning (2 November 2012) from 0930 and will close once 500 applications are received back. Deadline for submission 12 November 2012. It does not give a deadline for closing pack downloads.

Hi guys I have been browsing the site for a while, but this is my first post! I live in Northumberland and obviously have been weighing up my application to become a special. It seems that NorPol don't 'value' (if that's the right word) specials an awful lot in comparison to Durham, who seem much more of a spc-friendly force to work with. My question therefore is, with me living out of Durham...would it still be possible to apply and be successful in becoming a special there? If it helps, i own a car and like to drive it so the journey there and back wouldn't be a real issue for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! A

Hi, Just seeing if anyone had received their letter from Durham yet regarding whether they were successful at the final interview stage for the specials? They were said to be posted on Wednesday. Mine hasn't arrived yet. Thanks.

Hi All, Those that were in the last intake. When does your training take place? Is it weekends , or week nights or a mix of both?

Hi All, I appreciate this has more then likely been asked in other threads, Just after a bit of advice about Durham Constabulary and their specials, I.e. What Uniform do you get issued seen rumours that some forces only issue caps or custodian ? Do you all have lockers? . Do you have your own personal issued airwave radio's? When are you issued uniform ? Do you wear uniform for training? Thanks Again

Purely out of interest, do Durham Constabulary cover travel expenses to HQ during training?
