Well today is the day that I finish as a Special Constable, 14 years with North Yorks and 6.5 years with Cumbria, Its been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life and given the circumstances I would do it all again. I've met some great people and made some fantastic friends, had momemnts of sadness, terror, excitment and overall job satisfaction and i will miss it, but life, family and career must unfortunately come first. I've left Cumbria in safe hands with Paul and john and I hope they continue to improve and develop the Special Constabulary in Cumbria, I'm sure they will, I'll be keeping an eye out on the sidelines lol. So its bye from me but I'll keep read…

by SO3295- 5 replies
- 1.6k views
For those in Cumbria you will already know that Paul has been successful following a promotion board in becoming the new Special Constabulary Chief Officer, and that I will be leaving at the end of the month following a hand over. Its been my privilege to have been the Chief Officer for the past 5 years and to see the change and growth and I know I leave the organisation in very safe hand with Paul and John who I'm sure will build upon my work and turn a great team into a fantastic one. We have been through a lot in Cumbria over the last 5 years and whilst I'm a little sad to be going I'm very proud to have been part of it. After 22 years as a Special and 14 as a TA Offi…

Question about Barrow Specials' Initial Health Checks on Eyesight
by JW471546081383- 13 replies

Hey guys, I'm new here so hey hey everyone :D Just wondering, if I could ask you guys from your experience, before this gets moved, if it does get moved, to another board. What are the health checks like when it comes to your eyesight being borderline on the limit for the visual acuity and sight checks? I just walked in to an optician's today and checked if they had any appointments today, the wait to see if I was too short sighted or not was killing me. Optician said he'd be realistic with me, my eyesight visual acuity has stabilised, almost hasn't changed since I was 18 two years ago, but it's just over the border he says, landing just about in the unfavourable side…
