Hello everyone. Any of you guys and girls waiting to hear back about your app? I am bricking it, it only closed yesterday 21st Oct and I am checking my emails every chance I get. I have been looking around and can't believe the difference between specials in different areas. Some do all types of work all the time while some do neighborhood policing all the time, some drive A-b or response and some not at all. The training seems to differ massively aswel. I would be grateful if some one from Cheshire could tell me what it's like in Cheshire. I am not to bothered what I end up doing, the biggest hurdle seems to be getting in. Thank you

It has been confirmed that ALL future recruitment will only be open to people who have completed the Policing Degree. This is a two year course and will cost around £12k. After completing the course and if the force is actually recruiting then you will be able to apply to become a regular police officer. The degree is only valid for 4 years so if you have not got into the force by then then it is pretty much worthless. Existing Specisls also have to do the degree but it will became avaliable in time as a part time distance learning course, this will still cost the same amount. However many years you have in as a special will count as nothing towards the degree. People on…

References?

Hello guys and girls. Sorry if this has been covered, i have had a search and cant find the answer. Regarding references can i use a ex police officer (been retired about 3 years) in the guidance notes it just says must not be a police officer. Also do they have to be a professional person? I know its probably a stupid question but am sure you will agree that you don't want to get a thing wrong on your app. The last app i done was for merseyside and you could use pretty much anyone apart for immediate family back then. Thank you

Change in recruitment process 1 2
by atterley3- 16 replies

So I went to the awareness evening this week and found out the recruitment process has changed. They've scrapped the PIRT and now just invite you straight to an interview, which is longer and more conversational, not just competency based. Not sure if this is a good thing or not - I think so! Although I get nervous in interviews, if it's longer it means I should hopefully relax into it. Also the process is much quicker than I thought it would be - assuming I pass everything they send out offer letters at the beginning of November ready for the December intake!

Any ideas of time frame?

Hi all, I'm brand new to the forum and I'm interested in particular in the Cheshire Police Special section on the forum (the one I'm applying for). Just a little question: I've passed my final interview :D and I've been told the next stage is vetting, drugs test etc; does anyone know how long it will take (If all goes well!) before training starts? Thanks in advance!

Mobile CCTV Unit

This van was spotted in the Chester area on Friday and myself along with a few friends are a little confused as to its purpose. I spotted it parked up on the side of a single carriageway and instantly thought speed camera but on closer inspection it didn't quite match the usual profile. Anybody on here who knows the van or even works with it? I'm thinking ANPR but no doubt I'm wrong.
