  4. Pregnant woman, 22, was beaten with baseball bats while giving birth Gang of five men broke into her home in Essex and demanded money They attacked pregnant woman and slashed her in the face with a knife She suffered a haemorrhage and was rushed to Basildon Hospital Young mother gave birth to a healthy baby on Tuesday despite injuries Police are now hunting five men, aged in the twenties, involved in attack A pregnant woman was beaten with baseball bats and slashed in the face with a knife after a masked gang burst into her home while she was giving birth. The 22-year-old was about to leave for hospital when five masked men smashed their way into her house in Basildon, Essex, using crowbars. She suffered a haemorrhage and started bleeding heavily after the gang attacked her with crowbars and a knife while her two-year-old child was asleep in bed. A pregnant woman was beaten with baseball bats and slashed in the face with a knife after a masked gang burst into her home in Beambridge (pictured), Essex Her 32-year-old partner, who was upstairs collecting the hospital bag, came running to protect her and said the young mother is now too traumatised to go back into the house. The mother-of-two, who has not been identified, was rushed to Basildon Hospital and gave birth to a healthy baby on Tuesday despite her injuries. Her partner said: 'Her contractions were about six minutes apart, so I went upstairs to get her hospital bag and to phone the babysitter to come and look after our two-year-old. 'The next thing I heard a loud smash - like a fish tank shattering. 'My partner started screaming my name and I just heard these men shouting something like 'where's the money?', 'give us the money'.' The 22-year-old, who has not been identified, was rushed to Basildon Hospital (pictured) and gave birth to a healthy baby on Tuesday The young mother (not pictured) is now too traumatised to return to her home after the horrifying ordeal 'I came down running down the stairs and they were attacking her. I just threw my arms round her to protect her. 'They carried on beating us. I was just shouting back at them, 'you are wrong man, she is in labour. 'Me and my girlfriend just started screaming and shouting for help.' The men grabbed the couple's iPad, a Sony Experia mobile phone and £60 in cash and then ran off. Police are now hunting the five men, all ages in their twenties with local accents, who broke into the home in Beambridge, Pitsea, on Monday night. Three of the men wore balaclavas and dark clothes, a fourth gang member was white and the fifth was mixed race. The woman's partner said: 'I can't even describe to you how angry I am. My partner is too traumatised to even go back to our home. She is going to need counselling to help her get through this. To do this to a woman who is in labour - it's sick.' Detective Inspector Joel Henderson, from Basildon CID, said: 'This was a shocking attack on a young woman who was in labour. It is vital we get those people responsible off the streets of Basildon.' 5. Tricky situation to be in for a PC without a weapon to leverage the bandits. I suppose of the PC was armed it would only encourage criminals to start arming themselves with pistols?......
  6. Associated Press – UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police say they matched a would-be pizza shop robber to a roll of toilet paper in his Pennsylvania home. Uniontown police say 29-year-old Eric Frey tried to rob Michael Maria's Pizza on Saturday by handing an employee a note written on toilet paper that read: "I have a gun. Give me $300." Police arrived before Frey could leave because an employee hit a panic button. Frey told officers he was forced to commit the robbery by a large, bearded man with a gun who accosted him in a nearby alley. But police say a search of Frey's apartment wiped out that explanation: That's where they say they found a newly opened roll of toilet paper with the pen impression from Frey's note on an outer sheet. Online court records don't list an attorney for Frey. View the article source
